NEIL LENNON is on the lookout for a new club after being dramatically SACKED by Rapid Bucharest after just THREE months in charge.
In all, the Celtic legend presided over just SIX league games for the Romanian side – without winning any.
Neil Lennon’s time at Rapid Bucharest has come to an end[/caption]Lennon, 53, made the shock move to Romania back in May having been out of the game for more than a year.
But his spell at Rapid has rapidly turned into a nightmare.
Of their six league games this season, Bucharest have drawn five and lost one.
The results piled pressure piled on Lennon, who has been forced to insist he has no intention of quitting.
But it was claimed overnight club chiefs have taken the decision to SACK Lennon with official confirmation expected in the coming hours.
And now confirmation has finally come through – putting an end to a short and unsuccessful chapter of his career.
A statement read: “Today, Neil Lennon and FC Rapid decided to go their separate ways.
“We thank Neil and his staff for their commitment and professionalism, and we wish them continued success.”
Lennon hasn’t been afraid to move away from the UK to pursue his management goals, taking charge previously of Cypriot side Omonia Nicosia.
The three-time former Scottish Football Writers Association manager of the year led Omonia to the Cypriot Cup in 2022.
He led Celtic to FIVE titles as a manager, as well as four Scottish Cups and one League Cup.
That’s in addition to taking Hibs to the Scottish Championship title in 2016-17.
It’s been a turbulent spell for Lennon in Romania.
The club were forced to deny bizarre reports that Lennon had urinated on the training pitch – reports also later shot down by Lennon during a podcast appearance.
Last week, Lennon slammed the ‘levels of absurdity’ surrounding his team after being questioned on an apparent fall-out with the former captain.
But he presided over quite a turnover of players at Bucharest – with Rangers target Albion Rrahamani eventually joining Sparta Prague this week in a big money deal.
Rapid added 12 players in all, including taking goalkeeper Benji Siegrist from Celtic.
