Arsenal vs Lyon preview

Arsenal’s pre-season concludes with an Emirates Cup final clash against Lyon on Sunday.

That game brings an end to what has surely been a satisfactory pre-season for Gunners boss Mikel Arteta, who has come through with good results despite missing many of his Euros and Copa America stars.

Declan Rice, Bukayo Saka, Aaron Ramsdale, William Saliba and David Raya joined the squad last week, with Saliba and Raya starting in the midweek thumping win over Bayer Leverkusen.

Rice and Saka got minutes off the bench and you’d assume they’ll have a bigger part to play here in the final chance to get minutes in the legs ahead of the season opener.

Lyon ran out 4-0 winners over Union Berlin last time out and this is their final preparation game ahead of league business the following weekend.
