Michelle Pfeiffer to front brand new spin-off series to hit US drama – as its final episodes are massively delayed

MICHELLE Pfeiffer is set to lead a new spin-off series of popular drama Yellowstone – amid delays for the parent show.

The Golden-Globe winning actress, 66, is set to star in The Madison, which is the latest addition to Yellowstone‘s expanding universe.

In addition to her starring role, Michelle will also executive produce the new series alongside franchise boss Taylor Sheridan.

The Madison is described as a “heartfelt study of grief and human connection following a New York City family in the Madison River valley of central Montana.”

Meanwhile, the Scarface actress follows fellow A-Listers Helen Mirren and Harrison Ford in joining the Yellowstone universe.

News of the spin-off comes following delays to Yellowstone‘s final episodes.

In 2022, the production took an extended hiatus during filming of season five.

Ultimately, this turned into a delay which spanned over a year owing to the busy schedules of star Kevin Costner and Taylor Sheridan.

In June, Kevin officially announced that he wouldn’t be returning to Yellowstone.

Taking to Instagram, the actor shared: “I want to reach out and let you know that after this long year and a half of working on Horizon and doing all the things that’s required, and thinking about Yellowstone.

“I just realized that I’m not going to be able to continue season five B or into the future

“It was something that really changed me. I loved it.”

He added: “And I know you loved it.

“I just wanted to let you know that I won’t be returning and I love the relationship we’ve been able to develop. And I’ll see you at the movies.”

Launching on Paramount Network in 2018, Yellowstone follows the Dutton family, led by Kevin’s character John Dutton III.

They are owners of the Yellowstone Dutton Ranch, the largest ranch in Montana.

As for The Madison, it is the first spin-off to be set after the events of the original show.

A prequel titled 1883 aired on Paramount+ for ten episodes from late 2021 and into 2022.

A follow-up prequel, 1923, launched in December 2022 and has been renewed for a second season.

The second half of Yellowstone’s fifth and final season will first air in the US on Sunday, November 10.
