Moment yob brandishes WEAPON at demo where protesters chanted ‘f*** the EDL’ as he’s charged over riots

THIS is the moment a yob wields a huge weapon outside a while on live TV as protesters shout “f*** the EDL”.

The man was among a group of counter-protesters in Birmingham after rumours emerged of a far-right march being staged.

Despite the large crowd gathering in the Bordesley Green area of the city, no rally took place.

However, he was seen on camera dressed in a blue t-shirt and black jacket while holding a sword-shaped object.

It comes as Shehraz Sarwar, 46, has been arrested and charged with possessing an offensive weapon.

Court documents released ahead of his appearance state he is alleged to have had “a wooden stick with a cord wrapped around it”.

He has been kept in custody ahead of an appearance at Birmingham Magistrates’ Court today.

It comes as more than 400 suspects have been arrested and around 120 charged as those taking part in the riots begin facing justice.

The numbers are “expected to rise significantly day by day”, the National Police Chiefs’ Council has warned.

It has warned suspects they could be remanded in custody, even if they do not have any previous convictions, as a deterrent.

Those involved in violent disorder could face up to five years in jail.

It comes as three yobs have today been jailed for taking part in riots across Southport and Liverpool.

Derek Drummond, 58, was caged for three years for punching a cop during riots outside a mosque in Southport last Tuesday.

He pleaded guilty on Monday after admitting to calling officers “s**thouses” before sucker punching PC Tom Ball in the face, leaving him with bruises.

Declan Geiran, 29, was found with three lighters when arrested and confessed to the attack on a police vehicle.

The court heard the rioter had also sent threatening messages to a woman who slammed him online, for which he was caged for two months.

He will be joined in prison by Liam Riley, 41, who joined a 100-man march through Liverpool city centre on Saturday.

Riley, of Kirkdale, admitted to violent disorder and a racially aggravated public order offence.

The court heard he appeared to have drunk a lot of alcohol and was found with a poster that said: “This is our city.”

He was jailed for 20 months.

Meanwhile, a woman who pushed a burning wheelie bin into cops also appeared in court yesterday.

Stacy Vint, 34, was seen on video charging towards a line of riot cops before tripping over.

Vint, who was also found in possession of cannabis, admitted violent disorder at Teesside Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

She has been remanded in custody ahead of being sentenced on August 28.

Joel MacKenzie, 28, sobbed in court as he was remanded in custody after also taking part in violent scenes in Middlesbrough on Sunday.

He was allegedly part of a group of 20 men wearing balaclavas who shouted “We are taking over, I f***ing hate you c****” towards police.

Meanwhile, a teenage boy who smashed a police car during scenes of chaos in Bolton on Sunday has also become the first yob to be jailed.

James Nelson, 18, appeared at Manchester Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with causing criminal damage.

He pleaded guilty to the offence and became the first rioter to be jailed after he was sentenced to two months’ imprisonment.
