Who killed Andie Bell in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder?

WARNING: Contains major spoilers from A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder?

A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder centres around missing school girl Andie Bell.

Set five years after she was last seen, teenage sleuth Pip Fitz-Amobi decides to use her summer holiday to solve the mystery of her disappearance.

The missing schoolgirl’s boyfriend Sal Singh sent a text confessing to the murder before being found dead himself, seemingly taking his own life.

Andie’s body was never found, and Pip sets about proving Sal’s innocence.

Using threads that the police failed to pick up, the teen detective solves the mystery of who killed Andie.

After many twists and turns it was revealed that it was her own sister, Becca Bell, who murdered the teenager.

At first it was thought it was school teacher Elliot Ward who had killed Andie.

It turned out she was blackmailing him over an illicit relationship they were having.

When she confronted him, Elliot pushed Andie and she hit her head badly but she managed to run away.

However, after this she got into an argument with her sister.

It came after Becca realised it was Andie who had sold Max Hastings the date rape drug Rohypnol that he used to sexually assault her.

Andie begged her sister not to go to the police and the pair began to fight.

Becca pushed her sister and she fell to the ground and choked to death on her own vomit, having already suffered a bad head injury earlier.

I read the book ending first before I did the script, so I already knew by the time I got to the rest of the scripts. I was excited to see that play out.

Speaking about the ending, leading actress Emma Myers told Deadline: “I suspected Elliot when I was reading it, but I did not suspect Becca at all.

“That took me by surprise.”

She went on: “I read the book ending first before I did the script, so I already knew by the time I got to the rest of the scripts.

“I was excited to see that play out.

“Especially with everybody bringing their characters to life like Matthew Baynton and Carla Woodcock.

“It was really fun to do the respective scenes interrogating them at the climax of the show.”

Who plays Andie Bell in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder?

Murdered school girl Andie Bell is played by up-and-coming actress India Lillie Davies.

This is the young star’s first major role.

Before A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder she had appeared in single episodes of Netflix’s Bridgerton and BBC’s Call the Midwife.

How did Sal Singh die in A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder?

Andie’s boyfriend Sal – played by rising star Rahul Pattni – was the primary suspect in her murder after he sent a text confessing to her murder.

He was then found dead after an apparent overdose.

But all was not what it seemed and it turned out he was killed by school teacher Elliot.

He murdered Sal as the teacher thought he had killed Andie when he pushed her to the ground.

He then wanted someone to blame for Andie’s murder, so he decided to frame Sal instead.

Elliot then sent the text from Sal’s murder confessing to the murder.

How to watch A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder

All six episodes of A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder dropped on the BBC iPlayer on July 1, 2024, so you can watch the whole boxset right now.

Viewers in the US can watch the murder mystery on Netflix.

The series is an adaptation of Holly Jackson’s book of the same name.

The author was also heavily involved in bringing her novel to the small screen.

Speaking to the BBC, Holly, who served as an executive producer on the show, said: “I think the reason that A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder lends itself so well to a TV show is because the book is cinematic.

“I don’t start writing until I know every single beat and scene and can run the plot like a movie in my head.

“I think that’s why so many readers have been clamouring for an adaptation since the start.

“So, in a way, it felt like quite a natural translation to turn A Good Girls Guide book into the TV show, with all the big set piece scenes readers will recognise from the book, and new scenes or existing scenes envisioned in a new way to fit the visual medium.

Holly added: “All the characters we love, and the same story and plot twists are there from the book because I know readers are very protective and want to see a faithful adaptation.”
