ANDY MURRAY has been named the richest British Olympian of all time, as the staggering extent of his full net worth is revealed.
The tennis hero officially retired from the sport last week after his exit in the quarter-finals of the men‘s doubles at the Paris Olympics alongside compatriot Dan Evans.
Murray, 37, won two gold medals in the singles (the first to ever do so consecutively) and claimed silver in the mixed doubles alongside Laura Robson at London 2012.
He and Evans embarked on an exciting run at this year’s Games, producing an epic comeback whilst saving FIVE match points in their first round match against Japan‘s Kei Nishikori and Taro Daniel and following that up with a nail-biting win over Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen of Belgium.
The Team GB pairing eventually succumbed to American duo Taylor Fritz and Tommy Paul in the quarters and with Murray having already confirmed the event would be his last-ever professional tournament, it brought the curtain down on the Scot’s incredible career.
A career that includes two Wimbledon titles, a US Open title and a further eight appearances in Grand Slam finals.
Not to mention reaching world no.1 and coming out on top in the season-ending ATP Finals in 2016.
And, a whopping £50MILLION in prize money.
But that’s not all – as the Dunblane ace’s net worth is even greater.
And among British Olympians, he’s the wealthiest of them all.
A list compiled by online gaming company Vegas Slots Online has revealed Murray’s net worth as being £62m.
That puts him £16m ahead of Sir Ben Ainslie in second place and with almost twice the net worth of fellow Scot Sir Chris Hoy who ranks third with a net worth of £38m.
Other high profile athletes in the top 10 include Ryder Cup golf hero and this year’s runner-up at the Open, Justin Rose (£33m), and rowing legend Sir Steve Redgrave (£29m).
Disgraced equestrian star Charlotte Dujardin also makes the list (£20m).
But some superstars of the sporting world AREN’T included.
Mo Farah’s net worth is estimated at around £4m which puts him below current the face of Team GB athletics, Dina Asher-Smith, with a net worth £6m.
Swimming star Becky Adlington, now a pundit for the BBC, has a net worth of around £1.1m.
