ALARM bells started ringing for missing Brit Simon Robinson when pals had still heard nothing from him on his birthday.
Simon, 27, took off to Thailand on July 22 for a solo holiday and was supposed to return July 26 but never arrived home, family say.
Those close to the missing Lincolnshire lad then started to worry something was seriously wrong when his 27th birthday came and went days later – and no-one had contact with him.
Pal Sam Champ took to Facebook last Friday to alert a Thai travel group of the disappearance, according to the Bangkok Post.
The post said: “Hi guys. I need your help please
“One of my dear friends has gone missing in Bangkok, he hasn’t been heard from since the 26th of July.
“He was supposed to board a flight that day and he didn’t show up.
“It was his 27th birthday yesterday and everyone is growing very concerned.”
Simon originally planned to stay in Thailand until August 3 before bringing his return forward to July 26, his distraught sister has said.
He is thought to have phoned his girlfriend to let her know he was coming back to the UK early.
But he never showed and family are now trying to awareness on social media in a desperate bid to find him.
Although it was initially believed he vanished in the busy city Bangkok, new information has come to light indicating he may be 5,000 miles away in Finland.
Sister Sarah Robinson Dale has been posting updates on her Facebook page and received a tip from a man claiming to be a Thai immigration officer.
It has shifted the family’s search from Southeast Asia to the Arctic Circle, with Simon believed to have taken a Finnair flight from Bangkok to Helsinki.
Sarah said: “I am waiting for a call back from the police and embassy in Helsinki.”
The Foreign Office has only said it stands ready to help any Brit abroad, while Finnair wouldn’t confirm whether Simon took one of their flights due to customer confidentiality.
Sarah accused police in the UK of failing to take action after the incident was raised with South Yorkshire police.
She said: “A massive thank you to everyone that has shared and the kind people that have found this information out as the authorities at both sides haven’t done anything.”
South Yorkshire cops have not issued their own missing persons appeal.
Border-hopping international cops Interpol said it wouldn’t comment on a probe unless there were exceptional circumstances.
It comes after Australian holidaymaker Kieran James Cramer, 28, also vanished in Thailand in July.
He was eventually found in Bangkok but mystery still surrounds the disappearance.
Another Brit vanished in Sardinia in July.
Michael Frison, 25, was said to have left his home on the Italian island “undressed” before disappearing, according to his worried mum.
Budding barrister Ben Ross, 26, went missing in Majorca around the same time.
The Greater Manchester resident was eventually found alive after nearly two weeks in a relief for the family.
