THE largest inflatable obstacle course in the world has opened in an adventure park in England.
While the Tartan Titan is normally located in Edinburgh, the huge 600m obstacle course has moved to the Avon Valley for the summer holidays.
The Tartan Titan, which stretches for more than 600m, was recognised as the longest inflatable assault course in the world by the Guinness World Records in 2022.
Unfortunately, the British obstacle was knocked out of the record books after a 1,000m-long inflatable obstacle course was built in Qatar in 2023.
Inspired by TV game shows like Ninja Warrior, Total Wipeout and Gladiators, the huge course has 50 obstacles for daring punters to tackle.
The course opened in the Avon Valley Adventure and Wildlife Park at the end of last month, and it will be there until September 1, 2024.
Children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult and all guests must be taller than 1.2m.
Sessions last for 90 minutes, including a Safety Briefing.
Tickets for two adults and two children cost £70, with entry into the Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park not included in the price.
Doug Douglas, owner of Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park, said: “Summer 2024 is set to be our most exhilarating ever at the park!
“We love being able to host such fun events and are excited to welcome The Tartan Titan, while still being able to offer our established and well-loved daily summer activities as part of Summertopia.
“This year, guests will be able to stay at the park until 8pm on Fridays, to really make the most of the summer evening sunshine and those later holiday bedtimes.”
Set between Bristol and Bath, the Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park spans for over 90 acres and was awarded with a Traveller’s Choice Award from TripAdvisor earlier this year.
IN 2022, Features Writer Matt Bendoris took on the huge obstacle course in the Conifox Adventure Park in Edinburgh, here’s how it went.
The organisers advise you to wear gym clothes, but since I haven’t been to a gym since the 80s my headband looked a little dated.
But you better be prepared for a proper workout as there are over 50 obstacles to tackle which range from easy peesy to you’ve got to be joking?
There were slippery slopes to try and run up – the only person to complete the hardest one was the seemingly 9ft tall Craig Gordon – and giant balls to try and bounce over.
Meanwhile, there was also Meltdown – two huge beams rotating at speed which try to take the feet from under you over whack you on the napper.
The special Titan grippy socks you’re issued would probably work better when it’s dry, but at times it was like a splash zone thanks to the Scottish “summer”.
That’s one thing the organisers don’t warn you about, so bring a towel – and some dry underwear too.
Oh and long sleeves and joggers are advised too or you’ll end up with friction burns like me.
And you’re going to feel every one of those 568 metres as you climb, crawl, scramble, bounce and tumble your way towards the finish line.
But it really is great fun and yes you can do it with the family – as long as the kids are over 1.2metres tall.
There are plenty of other attractions in the Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park, including the Dinosaur Valley, which is said to be home to the largest collection of animatronic dinosaurs in the South West of England.
Young visitors will be able to stop all their favourite prehistoric creatures, including a 15m T-Rex, a Stegosaurus, a Brachiosaurus, a Triceratops, Raptors and many more.
There’s even a mini deep dinosaur safari where youngsters can drive along the track themselves
Other attractions in the park include a water play area, a sand play area, an 8m-high climbing tower, an air pillow and a miniature railway line.
There’s also an indoor play barn with slides and a ball pit as well as other outdoor attractions like a climbing wall, miniature golf and go-carts.
The Avon Valley Adventure & Wildlife Park has been praised by visitors with a 4/5 star rating from more than 1,400 reviews.
One person wrote: “We had a fab time, so much to do and see. It’s very well organised and reasonably priced, will definitely be coming back again.”
Another added: “A great day out for the family! We visited during the summer topia event and the kids loved the water slides pool, and foam party.”
Earlier this year, another huge obstacle course opened to the public in Coventry.
The Monster spans for more than 300m, making it one of the largest inflatable obstacle course in the world.
According to its website, the bouncy course is “bigger, better, bouncier and more bonkers than ever before.”
The snaking course has more than 40 obstacles, including an 18m slide called the Mega Slide.
Plenty of attractions set to open in London over the coming weeks, including the Paradox Museum, which launched last month.
The exhibit features 25 different crazy rooms with mazes, gravity-defying furniture and mind-bending tunnels.
Much like the Museum Of Ice Cream and the Balloon Museum, this isn’t a museum in the traditional sense – more of an opportunity for plenty of selfies.
But that will suit the hordes of Millennial and Gen Z visitors just fine, because between all the 50 family-friendly interactive displays and optical illusions, there are plenty of Instagrammable moments.
