SWIMMER Luana Alonso has been booted out of the Olympic Village for allegedly creating an ‘inappropriate environment.’
The Parguayan’s participation at the Paris 2024 Games came to an end after she finished rock bottom of the women’s 100m butterfly heat in late July.
But she won’t be permitted to stay in the athlete village until the end of the Games due to some “inappropriate” behaviour.
A statement for Larissa Schaerer, the head of the COP mission, read: Her presence is creating an inappropriate atmosphere within Team Paraguay.
“We thank her for proceeding as instructed, as it was of her own free will that she did not spend the night in the Athletes’ Village.”
Alonso, 20, has yet to issue a statement on her departure from the Athelte’s Village.
The Paraguayan is no stranger to a headline at the Olympics as she shocked swim fans around the world by announcing her retirement from the sport late last month.
She called time on her career after missing out on qualifictaion for the semi-final by 0.24 seconds.
After the race, she posted on Instagram, where she boasts over 310,00 followers: “It’s official now!
“I’m retiring from swimming, thank you all so much for the support!
“Sorry Paraguay, I only have to thank you!”
Alonso felt that the Olympics was the perfect time to call it a day.
She said: “I am very emotional because it was my last race. I am retiring from swimming.
“I have been swimming for so long, 18 years, and I have so many feelings.
“Unfortunately, I made the decision to stop and I am happy that my last race will be at the Olympic Games.”
