REMCO EVENEPOEL has been hailed for what he did following his triumph in the road race.
The Belgian cyclist claimed his second gold medal of the Paris Olympics with a convincing win.

The cyclist dismounted his bike and stood it in front of him as he spread his arms out in celebration.
To make the moment even more iconic, he stood in front of Paris’ Eiffel Tower.

Evenepoel had to cycle the last 4km of the 272km race with a new bike after picking up a puncture
He said: “I mean, look at that.
“What a place to win this. I feel so proud to win this and to be the first ever to take the double. It’s history, no?
“Honestly, I feel sick from the effort. It was a pretty hard day out there.
“Especially with that stressy moment with four kilometres to go with the puncture.
“I had to change bike, the car wasn’t ready for that moment, it was a bit stressy, but I had enough time. Ah, what a day.”
