THIS is the scary moment a machete gang dragged a driver from his vehicle at a petrol station in an attempted carjacking.
Footage shows three thugs in balaclavas trying to steal a car at a Shell garage in Birmingham at around 1.35am yesterday.
The masked group are seen pulling a driver out his white Toyota after he stopped for fuel.
They also appear to search the Toyota’s back seat – brandishing a machete when another man tries to stop them.
But the hapless trio ended up fleeing the scene on foot without taking the car.
No one was hurt in the attempted carjacking, West Midlands Police said.
Cops have brought in sniffer dogs to track down the machete gang – but have not yet made any arrests.
A witness told the Birmingham Mail: “The gang came from nowhere and dragged the driver out of his car.
“It is not clear if he was a taxi driver or just a driver filling up with petrol.
“He was very brave to try to stop the robbers, especially as one was armed with a huge blade.”
The witness added: “It was shocking but Birmingham is a no-go zone at night now.”
West Midlands Police said: “We’re investigating after three men, one armed with a machete, attempted to steal a car at a petrol station on Station Road, Birmingham at around 1.35am yesterday.
“Officers attended and found thankfully no-one was injured and the offenders had left without taking the vehicle.
“We brought in our dogs team to assist the search for those involved who we understand fled the scene on foot.
“No-one has been arrested but we’ve been speaking with witnesses and retrieving and reviewing CCTV from the area.”
A spokesperson added: “We are working to identify and trace those involved.”
