WEST HAM are close to agreeing a deal with Manchester United to sign Aaron Wan Bissaka.
However, the defender’s wage demands could prove problematic when it comes to personal terms.
Wan-Bissaka, 26, has one year remaining on his deal at Old Trafford meaning he could agree a pre-contract with a club overseas in January on lucrative terms.
The Hammers are confident of securing a deal with the Red Devils, with a fee north of £10million, but are pushing to find a compromise on wages.
New boss Julen Lopetegui is keen to sign a right-back and thought he had landed Bayern Munich’s Noussair Mazraoui.
After agreeing a fee with the German giants, the Moroccan snubbed a move to East London and is now set to replace Wan-Bissaka at Old Trafford.
West Ham are also understood to have been put off by Mazraoui’s agent fee, as was the case in their pursuit of Jonathan David.
Southampton’s Kyle Walker-Peters has also been discussed, though he is lower down on the priority list for Lopetegui.
The Hammers also want a striker and have been heavily linked with a move for Aston Villa star John Duran.
They have already had a bid worth £30m rejected, with Villa said to rate the Colombian closer to £40m.
