I THINK this year we have seen a few cute couples, but I think there’s not been that really beautiful love story.
We started off watching it every night but I can’t lie, since Harriet and Ronnie left we haven’t had any interest in it.
Jessie Wynter feels Love Island has lost its spark[/caption] She found love with Will Young on the show last January[/caption]I think they added so much to the show and once they left I felt the villa was quiet.
I do think there’s something about the show that’s lost it’s spark. I don’t necessarily know what that is. I don’t know if the Islanders are so aware of the public opinions on the outside or the careers they’re potentially going to have on the outside.
Back in the day you had Tommy Fury and Molly-Mae, but right now the Islanders just don’t seem to be that into each other.
It’s just not the sparks flying, and I think that’s a little bit sad because whilst we do love the drama, the love story is really beautiful to see as well.
The producers, when they cast myself and Will, they could see how much we both wanted love.
When I did the first Love Island I thought if you find the right person in there and put the effort in, I think there’s nothing more special than going through an experience like that and then coming out and continuing your journey on the outside.
In the villa it really is a great opportunity to get to know someone on such a deep level, you’re not going to get that experience in real life.
When are you stuck inside with someone where you can’t leave the place for like eight weeks? So, for me, I really wanted to find love, Will really wanted to find love, and we were just so lucky that we both put in there, and we put the hard yards in.
I think sometimes people just don’t want to put the effort in, and a lot of couples fall apart when they come outside of the villa.
Now we also have Love Island All Stars, so I think that probably plays on contestants’ minds.
If you have a look at the success of all the people that went on All Stars, they have their active social medias while they’re in the villa, people are like, ‘oh if this couple doesn’t work out, I might be able to go on Love Island All Stars’, so I think that magic’s kind of taken away a little bit.
It is really hard to date when you’ve just come off Love Island.
With All Stars they’ve already communicated, they know who they are on social media, so they might have stalked their social media before and met them at event.
So if they do have a crush on someone and they end up in the island there, they’re probably more likely to go ahead and pursue it.
Will and Jessie live on his family farm in Buckinghamshire[/caption] Jessie is focused on content creation on social media[/caption]I’m not going to name names but most times that I speak to a Love Islander from a previous cast they have mentioned either they want the call, they’re getting the call, apparently they were turned down or they turned it down themselves. It’s a very big topic for Love Islanders.
I would like to see a selection of people that weren’t cast through social media. Going through those raw applications, I know it’s long, finding unique people from all different backgrounds, all different types of looks, a different diverse cast.
Every single year you almost see like replications, and I think you kind of almost see it with a storyline, you see characters that replicate other people, and we shouldn’t be known as characters, it should just be like individuals, and it’d be so nice to see, just freshen up with a completely different cast, that doesn’t replicate one from another year.
