LUCY Letby will be the “target of napalm attacks” in jail and will be constantly “looking over her shoulder”, a former prison boss claims.
NHS nurse Letby was convicted of another newborn baby’s attempted murder this month following a retrial.
Last year she was found guilty of murdering seven babies and attempting to kill another six at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
The 34-year-old is serving 15 whole-life orders for the offences and will die in prison.
Letby is thought to be an inmate at HMP Bronzefield in Surrey, after she was moved from HMP Low Newton in Durham.
Retired prison governor Vanessa Frake spent three decades in charge of inmates like Myra Hindley and Rose West.
Vanessa said prison officers will have their work cut out trying to stop lags from attacking Letby.
She told the Mirror: “You’ve got the likes of serial killer Joanna Dennehy behind bars who murders for fun.
“Women who have had children, who are carers and nurturers, will see the likes of Letby as lower than low.
“I imagine she will be looking over her shoulder for the rest of her time.”
Vanessa said that Letby could be attacked with “prison napalm”, a mix of boiling water and sugar which sticks to the skin like super glue.
Other potential weapons include razor blades melted into a toothbrush, plastic cutlery, or pool balls and batteries in a sock.
But Letby will likely be housed in a Vulnerable Prisoners Unit for her own protection.
VPUs are special wings for prisoners like paedophiles, informants or bent cops who are likely to face attacks from mainstream inmates.
Letby has reportedly struck up friendships with child killers Michelle Smith and Shauna Hoare behind bars.
HMP Wormwood Scrubs veteran Vanessa said “like-minded prisoners” often have a pull towards each other.
It comes after Letby cried “I’m innocent” as she was handed another whole life order for attempting to murder a baby girl.
Sentencing, Mr Justice Goss said: “I repeat what I have said before, only you know the reason or reasons for your murderous campaign.
The judge added: “It was another shocking act of calculated, callous cruelty.
“During the course of this trial, as you did in the last trial, you have coldly denied any responsibility for any of your wrongdoing,
“And you have sought to attribute fault to others. You have no remorse.”
