I was at a festival when a Karen demanded I give her son my drink – she got a nasty surprise & was fuming when I did

A MAN has revealed how he gave en entitled ‘Karen’ mum the surprise of a lifetime after she demanded he shared his drink.

The festival goer was enjoying himself when the mother came up to him demanding his bottle of Coke.

Sharing his story on social media, the man explained he had been out at a street festival in his city with his friends when the incident occurred.

He wrote: “It was free entrance, so they tend to crack down on people bringing their own food and drinks to increase profits from beverage sales.

“A mate of mine lives within the area where the festival was taking place though, so we dropped our booze at his place and retrieved it during the festival.

“Since it didn’t seem like a terrific idea to walk around with a bottle of whiskey, I mixed it into a 1L Coca-Cola Vanilla bottle with just enough soda that it looked legit and went onto the festival grounds.”

While enjoying the festival, he got a tap on the shoulder and thought someone was trying to get passed him so moved.

He added: “I move along when I suddenly feel a hand grabbing my shoulder and trying to pull me back, so I turn around, and I’m faced with a typical Karen.”

Karen is a slang term typically used to refer to a middle-class white woman who is perceived as entitled or excessively demanding.

The man revealed she had asked where he got his bottle of Coke from as her son was desperate for one.

He revealed he had got it from home and the mum was then adamant he should give her son a sip.

Knowing full well that his bottle contained alcohol, he didn’t want to announce it in case a security guard heard so told her they were selling it at a nearby stall and she should get her own.

However, that wasn’t good enough for the mum as her son specifically wanted vanilla-flavoured coke.

He went on: “Meanwhile, the kid has started squealing about how he’s thirsty and ‘wants THAT one’, and his mum starts giving me a demanding stare.”

Deciding that honesty was the best policy, he told the mother clearly that it contained whiskey and he couldn’t give it to her son.

But she wasn’t having it, he continued: “She started screaming saying, ‘You’re lying! You just made that up so you wouldn’t have to share with my baby! Now give it to me!’

How to keep your kids safe in warm weather

Hot weather is fabulous, a wonderful trip to the beach or enjoying time in the garden! However, when temperatures skyrocket it can become dangerous. Save The Children have compiled 10 heat safety tips for keeping children safe in a heatwave.

1. Light clothing, heavy suncream
Choose lightweight, light-coloured, and breathable fabrics (such as cotton), and use lots of suncream to protect you and your child from the heat and potential sunburn.

2. Drink lots of fluids
Remember to drink plenty of liquids, regardless of your activity level. Check your baby’s nappy for concentrated (dark in color) urine, which can indicate dehydration.

3. Get lots of rest
Try and limit activities. Make sure that children get lots of rest when they are active. NHS advises to “try to keep out of the sun between 11am to 3pm”.

4. Keep children entertained
Children may become anxious or restless from being kept indoors. Plan for indoor activities and games.

5. Reassure children
Children may be stressed by the heat. Remember that children take their cues from their parents and caregivers, so try to keep calm and answer their questions openly and honestly. Also stick to regular bath and sleep times for your child.

6. House safety/cooling tips
During the day, keep rooms cool by closing blinds/curtains, especially in rooms facing the sun. Using a fan to circulate air in the room is beneficial.Review your child’s school sun policy.

7. Never leave children unsupervised in parked cars

Even in less threatening temperatures, vehicles can rapidly heat up to dangerous temperatures. A child left inside a car is at risk of severe heat-related illness or death, even if the windows are cracked open.

8. Stay informed

Listen to local news and weather channels for health, safety and weather-related updates.

9. Know how to identify heat-related illnesses

Look for signs of heat-related illnesses/conditions such as heat stroke, exhaustion, cramps, and severe sunburn. If children show these symptoms, seek medical assistance. Refer to the NHS website for a complete list, and how to remedy them.

10. Read the NHS guidance for babies

The NHS advises giving your baby a cool bath before bedtime and keeping nightwear to a minimum. Your baby will sleep most comfortably at room temperature between 16C and 20C, a nursery thermometer will help you monitor the temperature of the baby’s room.

“While I kinda shrug and turn away in an attempt to disappear into the crowd, the kid grabs the bottle with both hands, wrenches it from my hand, and makes a run for it, his mum in tow.

“I follow them, and I find them just in time to see the kid take a few massive swigs from the bottle, after which he starts violently throwing up almost immediately.

“Figuring the best move for me would be to not further pursue the now vomit-covered bottle of Jack and coke, I decide to head over to my mates and mix a new one. In passing, I throw his mum a ‘Told you’, and make my way into the crowds.”

But that wasn’t the end of it, the mum was fuming and accused him of poisoning her son and tried to strike him until a security guard came over.

The man wrote: “I said I didn’t and that I was planning on getting smashed myself, to be fair. They thought it was coke, wouldn’t believe me when I told them it was booze, and snatched the bottle from me. What you’re seeing here is just the result of the kid taking a drink before I was able to stop him.”

Fortunately a bystander saw the ordeal go on and confirmed it with the security guard who let the man enjoy the rest of the festival.

People were left stunned by the story shared on Reddit and the entitled mum’s actions.

One person wrote: “I can never wrap my head around this level of entitlement: asking for other people’s s**t. Like, no, f**k off and buy your own, can’t find what you are looking for?”

Another commented: “But for real, why do parents demand drinks / food to be shared? So many diseases can be passed along this way (not saying you have one OP) but like c’mon…”

“And that’s how it’s done – let the damn kid learn the hard way instead of babying them,” penned a third.

Meanwhile a fourth said: “They got what they deserved.”

“I don’t even want to share a drink with my own husband/children, let alone some random stranger. Gross,” claimed a fifth.

Someone else added: “What type of psychotic person approaches a stranger and demands that their kid get a sip of their soda?”
