A MUM has gone viral after catching her ”feral” four-year-old pierce her earlobes on her own.
Growing up, many of us wanted to get our ears pierced as soon as possible – but one little girl, who’s just four, decided to take matters in her own hands.
Canadian mum-of-three, Brianna Attias, from Toronto, took to TikTok after realising her daughter pierced her earlobes without her parents knowing.
Ear piercings should always be carried out by a professional, and it is advised that parents should keep an eye on their children at all times when around sharp objects and jewellery.
All chuffed with the mini at-home makeover, the four-year-old bravely told the mum that the piercing didn’t hurt – although Brianna’s partner was pretty sceptical about it.
Although it is not know what the little fashionista had used to pierce her ears, it’s believed it may have been the sharp end of an earring she’d found at home.
The father, who was in a state of shock in the video, refused to believe what had just happened, firmly shaking his head.
”We are raising a… What does a person like that turn into?”
Sharing snaps of the DIY transformation, Brianna wrote: ”Our four-year-old pierced her ears today… on her own…
”Daddy can’t believe it,” she chuckled.
The little blue-eyed girl swapped the older earring with two on-trend golden hoops before posing to the camera with a big smile.
Since being posted on the popular platform, the incident has taken the internet by storm, winning Brianna a staggering 13.7million views in less than a week.
Just like her dad, millions of social media users were stunned – not only by her bravery but also the ”impeccable” placement of the holes.
Warning Brianna and her hubby, one user wrote: ”That girl is fearless watch out.”
Another joked: ”Dad is literally googling help strategies.”
A third admired the four-year-old, writing: ”Not even one either, she did both even after feeling the pain from the first one that’s dedication!”
”I would be terrified,” chimed in someone else over the ”feral” girl’s antics.
There are four recognised styles of parenting explained below:
Authoritarian Parenting
What some might describe as ‘regimental’ or ‘strict parenting.
Parents with this style focus on strict rules, obedience, and discipline.
Authoritarian parents take over the decision-making power, rarely giving children any input in the matter.
When it comes to rules, you believe it’s “my way or the highway.”
Permissive Parenting
Often referred to as ‘soft parenting’ or ‘yes mums/dads’.
Permissive parents are lenient, only stepping in when there’s a serious problem.
They’re quite forgiving and they adopt an attitude of “kids will be kids.”
Oftentimes they act more like friends than authoritative figures.
Authoritative Parenting
Authoritative parents provide their children with rules and boundaries, but they also give them the freedom to make decisions.
With an authoritative parenting style, parents validate their children’s feelings while also making it clear that the adults are ultimately in charge.
They use positive reinforcement techniques, like praise and reward systems, as opposed to harsh punishments.
Neglectful or Uninvolved Parenting
Essentially, neglectful parents ignore their children, who receive little guidance, nurturing, and parental attention.
They don’t set rules or expectations, and they tend to have minimal knowledge about what their children are doing.
Uninvolved parents expect children to raise themselves. They don’t devote much time or energy to meeting children’s basic needs.
Uninvolved parents may be neglectful but it’s not always intentional. A parent with mental health issues or substance abuse problems, for example, may not be able to care for a child’s physical or emotional needs consistently.
According to YouGov, ”52% support age limit of over 16 for ear piercings, but opinion divided over age restriction for other body parts”.
Dr. James Ulery Jr. of Skincare Associates in Monroe advised against piercing a child’s ears too early, The Blade reported.
“The problem with piercing the ears too young is the child can pull at (the earring) and it can rip through.
”Most kids are getting pierced around 9, 10, 11, or 12,” said Dr. Ulery, who cautioned about the risk of infection from non-sterilized equipment.
“Infection is always your biggest issue when it comes to piercing. If people don’t clean the area or prep it well or if someone uses a poor quality earring then you can get an allergic reaction and that could be a major issue.”
The expert added: “A lot of it depends on how the piercing is done. If you go to the mall or some places, they use this spring-loaded gun, which are high force, and It just shoots through the ear and the amount of pressure can really pinch the ear, so it probably hurts more.”
