A WOMAN has wowed people with her ”impeccable” front porch makeover – which she achieved with a bit of paint.
DIY-loving mum Kylie Katich, from the USA, hated the front part of her family home so much, she closed her eyes whenever she was forced to walk in.
The porch, which she described as ”sad and embarrassing”, was ”the ugliest” thing about the property, filled with cracks and stains she was desperate to get rid of.
But growing increasingly more fed up of the sorry state of the porch, the parent decided one morning to totally revamp it – without forking out for any fancy tools and equipment.
Before the glow-up could begin, Kylie – who shared the makeover on TikTok – gave the concrete flooring a good clean with a power washer that banished all the dirt and grime.
To give a fresh start, the parent also caulked the cracks ”so it felt like a nice clean slate”, she explained in the now-viral video.
Once the surface was ready, Kylie poured a whole can of concrete-safe paint and brushed it evenly across, ensuring a smooth finish all over.
After the porch was painted white – which she knew someone would call ”landlord’s special” – Kylie grabbed a piece of scrap wood and cut it 16 x 16.
The DIY lover used this as a stencil to create the on-trend checkered pattern on the flooring, also ensuring she had a big ruled by the side ”to make sure the pattern repeat would align perfectly”.
”Spending all that time making sure the pattern was perfect with the stencil and ruler, I felt like I didn’t need tape.
”But I did find these little sponge brushes were the best at creating straight lines,” said Kylie who described the process as ”therapeutic”.
”This looks so tedious, but it really, truly wasn’t. Making the straight lines was so satisfying, I loved every second of this.”
All chuffed with the glow-up, Kylie – who painted the squares a gorgeous sand colour – couldn’t even believe the results herself.
”It was so, so bad before and seeing the after it looks like I laid tile, it’s so beautiful – there’s no more cracks or stains, and those lines are clean.”
Once the paint had dried fully, Kylie, who posts under the username @kyliekatich, put all of the furniture back, adding stunning plant pots as well.

Sharing the Before and After snaps, the DIY fanatic joked that she will no longer need to shut her eyes when she walks in her house now.
Since being posted on the popular platform, the clip has racked up over a staggering 5million views in just four days, with hundreds in awe at the makeover.
One said: ”It really made your front porch pop! I love it!”
Another agreed, writing: ”The colour choice was impeccable.”
A fellow home interiors advised: ”I did the same to my porch 2 years ago!! My only tip is to do a good clear coat – the paint will chip over time.”
