MOTORISTS may benefit from this nifty gadget that could cut your insurance costs.
Mind-boggling stats show that car insurance prices have hiked massively – but if you install a dash cam, you may make a saving.
You may not want to fork out on the camera but if you’re unlucky enough to get in an accident, its footage will prove invaluable.
Inure Daily director Paul Daly told The Daily Express: “A growing number of insurers recognise the value of dashcams, as they not only help identify fault in the unfortunate event of an accident but also protect against potential insurance fraud.
“Dashcams have a significant role to play in insurance claim disputes, as they provide unbiased and reliable footage, which can be the decisive factor in establishing the chain of events leading to an accident.”
He went on to say that motorists can save a lot on hefty admin costs and explained that sometimes, insurers will even waive policy excess if a dashcam is fitted.
The advantages of having a dashcam fitted are plenty.
At the very least, they protect drivers from bogus allegations.
However, the amount you save does vary insurer by insurer.
The good news comes ahead of Amazon‘s Prime Day promotion, where the simple car gadget is expected to be on offer.
Amazon’s sale event will take place from midnight on 16 July to midnight on 17 July this year, with exclusive discounts for Prime members.
Provided you’re signed up to Amazon’s perks-filled subscription scheme, for 48 hours you can get your mitts on all sorts of items for a lot less than usual.
Previously a once-a-year affair, Amazon fans and bargain-hunters can now look forward to multiple Prime Day events during the summer and autumn period.
During the most recent sale in October, Amazon Prime members were treated to a stunning range of price drops across tech, home and gardening, home appliances, fashion and beauty.
The best Prime Day deals included 60% off the popular Echo Dot device, 45% off the 43-inch Amazon Fire TV and 29% off the Tower Duo basket air fryer.
Over the last few sale events, Amazon has also teased early deals which launch exclusively for Prime members ahead of the official sale start date.
But we will have to wait and see whether they offer the sale early discounts for 2024.
Prime Day was originally launched in 2015 to celebrate Amazon’s 20th birthday but has since evolved into a cult-like sale a bit like Black Friday or Cyber Monday.
While the annual sale event has traditionally taken place every July, in 2022 Amazon also hosted two Prime Day events in July and October, giving bargain-hunters even more opportunities to shop for discounts as a Prime member.
You can expect to find low prices on Amazon’s own-brand items, along with plenty of branded goods and household names across a variety of departments.
Prime Day usually lasts for a couple of days, with many new deals appearing on the second day, but you need to be a Prime member to access the discounts.
