Man, 24, arrested after remains of two men found in suitcases on Clifton Suspension Bridge and MORE discovered in London

COPS have made an arrest after human remains were found in suitcases on Clifton Suspension Bridge – before another grisly discovery was made.

The remains of two adult men were found in two suitcases at the Bristol landmark late on Wednesday night.

It came after members of the public frantically phoned police when they spotted a man “acting suspiciously” beforehand.

Officers in London then raided a flat yesterday – and found more human remains.

The Met Police today confirmed it had made an arrest in Bristol in the early hours of this morning.

Cops said the man, 24, would be questioned over the grim discovery of the human remains in London later today.

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said today: “This is a significant development in our investigation and I would like to thank the public for their support.

“We understand the concerns of local communities in both Bristol and London and officers will remain in the Clifton and Shepherd’s Bush areas over the coming days to reassure those affected by this tragic incident.”

It comes after forces across the country launched a manhunt for Colombian national Yostin Andres Mosquera, 24.

Members of the public first phoned police before midnight on Wednesday after seeing a man acting suspiciously at the Clifton bridge.

Cops arrived to find a suitcase containing human remains, before discovering another nearby.

Officers said this week they believed the remains were those of two adult men, though their identities remain unknown.

The results of one post-mortem examination were “inconclusive”, while a second post-mortem examination is ongoing.

Avon and Somerset Police then released CCTV of a man they wished to speak to over the grim find.

The suspect in the CCTV was described as Black with a beard, and was dressed in head-to-toe black with an Adidas baseball cap, jeans and a jacket.

He wore gold earrings and black trainers with thick white soles, and also had a black backpack.

Met Police yesterday confirmed it had taken over the probe, as it raided a property in Scott Road, Shepherd’s Bush.

The force said officers found more human remains at the London flat.

Officers said prior to the raid yesterday it had arrested a man, 36, in Greenwich.

He has since been released without charge.

Met Police said last night: “While searching a flat in Scotts Road, W12 on Friday, 12 July, officers found human remains which are in the process of being sensitively removed.

“Additional post-mortem examinations will be arranged as soon as possible.

“At this early stage, officers believe that the remains are connected to the human remains found in Bristol, and that there are still two male victims.

“Officers believe they know the identity of the two men, although formal identification is yet to take place. Enquiries continue to locate and inform their next of kin.

“Both victims are thought to have been known to Mosquera and the Met is appealing for information on his whereabouts.”

Deputy Assistant Commissioner Andy Valentine said: “This is a fast moving enquiry with detectives in London and Bristol actively pursuing a number of lines of enquiry.

“Locating Yostin Andres Mosquera, however, is the priority and I appeal to anyone with information on his whereabouts to get in touch.”
