Now 34, John has revealed he wanted a more normal life and to be able to have a pint in his local as well as get his DIY jobs done.
Speaking to the Daily Star, the singer said: “I’m genuinely quite grounded as a person anyway.
“I think there were moments in my career when walking onstage after Rihanna at Coachella with Calvin [Harris] or flying around in a private jet, I’ve been lost but I was in my 20s and I had extreme success.
“Why not live it like it should be lived? Now I think as I grow, like I’m generally a grounded person.
“I’m obviously a lot more mature and rounded. I still go to the pub and drink a pint with my friends, constantly.
“I do DIY around the house and I take my daughter out all the time, live a pretty normal life to be honest. That’s the way I’d like to keep it as well.”
John’s music video for his single Love Me Again, which was released 11 years ago, has amassed a whopping one billion streams on YouTube.
Back in 2020 John told fans how he had cut ties with his music label as well as his management for a fresh start.
He had previously revealed his battle with mental health, saying chasing hits caused him to enter a deep depression.
John suffered a health setback in 2016 when he underwent surgery for a brain tumour.
