FEW could fail to sing along to the hit China in Your Hand when the melodious song dances through the radio waves.
Now the musical authors, T’pau are making a comeback ,with a series of UK concert dates kicking off this summer.
TPAU in their heyday performing in Germany in the 80s[/caption] Power house perfomer Carol Decker still knows how to belt out the hits[/caption]Having headlined at the Hazlemere fringe festival last week, the legendary band will star in some 80s nostalgic shows starting in Northern Ireland and travelling to select cities including Birmingham, Manchester, Cornwall, Brighton and London’s Wembley arena later in the year.
Originally formed in Shropshire, T’Pau was spearheaded by power ballard vocalist Carol Decker, 66, enjoying a string of hits including, China in your Hand and Heart and Soul.
Their debut album Bridge of Spies which dropped in 1987 sold over 1.2 million copies in the UK, going quadruple platinum.
The majority of the band’s songs had been written by Decker and her then boyfriend and band member, Ronnie Rogers.
After T’pau split in 1991, Carol decided to focus on her personal life, later getting together with restaurateur Richard Coates with whom she had two children, Scarlett, 26 and Dylan 22.
In 1997 Carol decided to resurrect the band with a new line up and have enjoyed performing together in 80s revival gigs and various one off events ever since.
Since then she has kept busy with a number of TV appearances, starring in the video for Peter Kay and Matt Lucas charity single “I’m Gonna be 500 miles ” for Comic Reliefs Red nose day in 2007.
She also released the single Just Dream in download-only format in September 2007.
In 2018, she made a guest appearance in an episode of the British comedy TV series Benidorm as herself.[6]
Then In 2022, Decker released an autobiography titled Heart And Soul.
