GEORGE, Charlotte and Louis have broken up from Lambrook school for their summer holidays – and are expected to have a “low-key” but fun summer ahead.
Due to Princess Kate’s recovery from her preventative cancer treatment, the Wales family could spend some of their summer surrounded by nature at Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
Royal biographer Claudia Joseph told Fabulous: “I expect William and Kate will have a low-key summer this year while Kate has treatment for cancer.
“I’m sure they will try and go to their country house Anmer Hall, if Kate has finished her preventative chemotherapy but she might have to stay at Windsor if she is still undergoing treatment.
“We all know William and Kate are very sporty – they have taken George and Charlotte to the Commonwealth Games, Lord’s, the Six Nations and Wimbledon – but I think it’s unlikely that they will make any public appearances this summer, unless Kate is well enough to go to Wimbledon.
“They are more likely to be spotted on the beach at Holkham, which is a favourite of the family, going for cycle rides and playing outdoors.”
The Wales family may be royalty – but some of their friends have even more jaw-dropping houses of their own.
Claudia added: “William and Kate have a close-knit circle of friends in Norfolk, who have been dubbed the ‘Turnip Toffs’.”
And just an hour away in Suffolk is Prince George’s pal Ralph Tollemache, 12, who he watched Aston Villa with in April and could finish this summer.
Ralph lives in a 400-acre estate with its own drawbridge and 60ft-wide moat.
The Grade I-listed Helmingham Hall has been in the Tollemache family for hundreds of years and certainly would be fit for royalty.
Although the house is off limits for the public, the gardens and deer park are open from May to September, with tickets costing £9 for adults and £4.50 for kids.
Traditionally the royal family flocks to Balmoral to “let their hair down” away from the public at the sprawling Scottish estate.
Claudia added that “if Kate is well enough”, they are likely to spend time with King Charles at the castle, but it is yet to be confirmed by the palace.
She continued: “The children call him Grandpa Wales and he loves playing with them in the garden and reading to them.”
The Wales family have a modest three-bed cottage on the 50,000 acre estate called the Tam-Na-Ghar, which provides complete privacy while they enjoy activities such as hiking, picnics and fishing.
The royals have a team of chefs to prepare meals each day as you’d imagine, but they are also said to enjoy indulging in a local takeaway from time to time at Balmoral too.
A royal source told Fabulous that the Queen used to treat herself to fish and chips when at Balmoral.
They revealed: “A footman is dispatched to get it from the local town of Ballater.”
Scotland is a place of both happy and sad memories for Prince William.
He met Kate while at St Andrew’s University, but he also learned of his mother’s tragic death while at Balmoral in 1997.
The kids are likely to spend time with their other grandparents too, Carole and Michael Middleton.
Claudia added: “Michael and Carole have been a source of strength for William and Kate as she battles cancer.
“I’m sure they will spend a lot of time over the summer with the family and looking after them.”
They may be worth £1.05billion and have access to royal palaces, but William and Kate prefer a more modest lifestyle.
Claudia added: “I think the key to William and Kate’s upbringing of their children is enjoying the simple pleasures in life such as building dens, gardening, going for walks, kicking a football and pond dipping.”
Admittedly, with ten bedrooms and expansive grounds, Anmer Hall it’s not exactly your typical holiday home or caravan – but once there the family love nothing more than a low-key day trip exploring the local area.
Royal expert Jennie Bond speculated that a trip to Cornwall could also be on the cards.
She told OK!: “If Catherine’s medical condition allows, they will perhaps have a few days in the Scilly Isles – which is one of their go-to places where they are pretty much left alone to enjoy the beaches and countryside during precious family time.
“But if her treatment means she has to stay closer to home, they’ll love hunkering down at Anmer Hall – perhaps with some of the cousins and family visiting them there.”
It’s a place close to Prince William’s heart especially, as he holidayed there as a child, with parents King Charles and Princess Diana.
In 2020 the family were spotted inconspicuously cycling around Tresco Island, with one onlooker telling The Sun: “We hardly noticed at first as they seemed a normal family on holiday intent on keeping themselves to themselves.
“The place where they were staying was quite modest and certainly not hugely luxurious.”
A source told Fabulous: “The Cambridges and royal protection officers took a flight by helicopter to Tresco.
“Boat taxis known as Specials were organised for low-key scenic boat trips for the family to be privately taken to some of the wilder islands for bird watching and seeing dolphins.”
