IF you are wondering what to get your child’s teacher for an end of year gift, then you’ve come to the right place.
With many schools in the UK set to break up for the six week holidays very soon, thinking of what to buy a teacher to say thank you for their hard work is a big decision for many parents to make.
But thankfully, one teacher has made the decision that bit easier – and has revealed the presents they actually want to receive.
Not only this, but the teacher also shared the common present that students always buy, which they can’t stand to open.
Posting on social media, on the Sweet Tiger account, a sweet shop from Berkshire, a teacher revealed all, leaving many open-mouthed.
The caption of the short clip read: ‘Do you like to buy a gift for your teacher at the end of summer term? Here is what to buy and not to buy, said by a teacher!’
The teacher was then asked: “What as a teacher would you like to receive at the end of term from your pupils?”
To this, the teacher responded and confirmed: “Alcohol is always a good one, helps us get through the end of term.”
She also added: “Maybe some alcoholic sweets, or just sweets in general – helps with the energy at the end of term.”
The brunette teacher then revealed the gift that she doesn’t want to receive, as she continued: “But definitely no more ‘best teacher’ mugs!”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @sweettigerofficial, has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 85,200 views in just one day.
But social media users were left totally divided – whilst some flocked to the comments to share what gift they normally buy, others revealed that they don’t buy presents.
One parent explained: “I give a £5 Costa voucher! Always goes down well!”
Whilst a second chimed in: “I did a Tesco gift voucher for £20 each – everyone loves a little money off the food shop.”

As the summer holidays fast approach, Fabulous Senior Digital Writer and mum-of-two Sarah Bull weighs in on whether you should feel obliged to buy your kids’ teachers a present to mark the end of term.
Sarah said: “It can be pricey trying to keep the kids entertained during six weeks off school.
“But before the end of term, parents all over the country are also trying to budget for gifts for their kids’ teachers too.
“With teachers, teaching assistants, SEN specialists and other beloved staff members to buy for, it can be an expensive business.
“And while lots of schools actively discourage parents from spending their money on end-of-term presents for teachers, I consider it an obligation.
“After all – I know how tough my kids can be at home, and their teachers have to keep them in check for the majority of the day – so don’t they deserve a token of appreciation?
“I also wouldn’t want my children to feel left out when their friends arrive at school armed with pressies for their teachers.
“While some parents go all out with gifts, with alcohol and flowers popular choices, I’ll be doing my best to stay at the £5 mark for each of the four staff members I’ll be buying for.
“And with some fab options in stores like Poundland, Home Bargains and B&M, it should be easy for me to stick to my budget.”
However, someone else said: “I don’t buy teachers gifts. Don’t know why it’s expected.”
And another added: “How about nothing.”
Meanwhile, many teachers rushed to the comments to share their thoughts on giving and receiving presents from students.

A second penned: “I love my best teacher mugs. It’s the thought that counts, most teachers don’t expect anything.”
A third shared: “Some nice words in a card. I keep every single one and they mean more than any present.”
Whilst another teacher claimed: “I expect no gifts but I do love things children have made.”
