HEINZ has discontinued a retro lunch condiment, leaving shoppers disappointed over the company’s “bad decision”.
The crunchy and tangy sauce will no longer be available to buy, the manufacturer confirmed.
A shopper noticed the Piccalilli Pickle was missing from the shelves and contacted Heinz on X, previously known as Twitter.
She wrote: “Hi I’m in Ireland and your piccalilli has disappeared from our supermarkets.
“Can you tell me when we can expect it back??
“Couldn’t find any in Northern Ireland recently either?”
Heinz replied to the customer to say the condiment is no longer being produced, writing: “Hi Celine, our Piccalilli has been discontinued.”
The disappointed shopper added: “OMG what a bad decision.”
On the company’s website, the Heinz Piccalilli Pickle sauce is described as “bursting with irresistibly tangy flavour”.
The condiment is often used on salads or jacket potatoes, but sadly it will no longer be produced.
The Piccalilli sauce is no longer available to buy on the Heinz website, but some stores might still have some in stock, so check with your local supermarket and you might still be able to find it.
The condiment is still listed on Tesco‘s website and other online retailers might still be selling the last few jars.

Waitrose‘s own essential brand has a version of sweet piccalilli, with a 275g jar costing £1.25.
Marks and Spencer also makes its own piccalilli and a 285g jar costs the same as Waitrose.
Similar sauces are also available at Asda and Sainsbury’s so you can try a few of them and decide which one you prefer.

Scanner apps are useful to have on your phone. Trolley.co.uk app has a scanner that you can use to compare prices on branded items when out shopping.
Bargain hunters can also use B&M’s scanner in the app to find discounts in-store before staff have marked them out.
And always check if you can get cashback before paying which in effect means you’ll get some of your money back or a discount on the item.
Last month, shoppers expressed their frustration after finding out that Heinz has discontinued its Vegan Salad Cream.
A baffled customer asked the company on X: “Why can’t I find any Heinz Vegan Salad Cream anywhere? Is there a shortage? Is it being repackaged?”
A spokesperson sadly responded: “Hi Sandra, it has recently been discontinued.”
Fans were quick to express their frustration over the loss on social media.
One less than impressed shopper penned: “Majorly disappointed today to find out Heinz Vegan Salad Cream Discontinued Salad Cream, has always been my favourite since a child.”
Another wrote: “Quick @HellmannsUK, get on this gap in the market as @HeinzUK have been utterly ridiculous and are discontinuing their #vegan salad cream for some random reason.
“Save our sandwiches, please!”
