A BRIDE has revealed the strict and controversial request she had for her wedding guests.
Mariel Woolf took to social media to share her gorgeous English garden-themed wedding back in 2023, and the controversial way she got the best pictures form her big day.
Admitting it was ‘crazy’ Mariel’s shared pictures of herself and guests as she tied the knot.
She wrote: “Call me crazy but I had a strict and controversial dress code for our wedding guests…”
The bride revealed she saw the idea years ago and knew she had to do it for her own wedding.
To go with her neutral countryside-theme she asked all of her guests to wear very specific colours on her big day.
She revealed: “We asked all guests to wear cream, white, grey, beige or dusky pinks to have a super consistent and strong colour palette.”
Along with the wedding invites for guests, she sent out the exact colours she wanted guests to wear.
It included an extensive description of the brides theme along with images of outfits and styles she liked.
Mariel added that all of her wedding guests stuck to the strict rules set in place and that the colour scheme made her day even more special.
Despite most brides wanting to stick out, Mariel even had her bridesmaids dressed in champagne, silk floor-length gowns.
But in the end, she loved how the whole look pulled together.
The clip soon went viral on her TikTok account @merielwoolf with over 195k views and 4,000 likes.
People were quick to share their thoughts on her strict wedding code.
One person wrote: “As a guest I would love this, don’t know why everyone’s hating it. Having a clear view from the bride what colours she likes means no one’s hassling her if their dress is ok.”
Another commented: “It’s a lovely idea, but some folks wouldn’t want to buy new things.”

Josie Griffiths said: I’ll never forget the wedding I went to in October 2022 where a guest wore a white dress.
It was ill-fitting, knee length and looked nothing like an actual wedding dress, but that didn’t stop everyone judging her.
The rules on wedding guest outfits – which are annoyingly loads stricter for women than they are for men – are meant to be about “not upstaging the bride”, which in reality is quite hard to do on someone else’s wedding day.
But if you get it wrong as a guest, you do end up looking a bit silly, and in front of loads of people who don’t know you personally.
It’s just not the occasion for your new white dress, as much as online stores love dumping them in the ‘wedding guest’ section.
I’d avoid anything too tight/short, and ditch super formal gowns unless the dress code calls for them – you don’t want to be in a full length sequin gown at a smart casual event.
Personally I don’t like black dresses either, it isn’t a funeral.
Otherwise you should be pretty safe. Technically wearing red means you’re in love with the groom, but that’s the kind of rule most people would scoff at nowadays.
I do always check what colour the bridesmaids are in, just to be safe, after the Spanish wedding where I watched them walk down the aisle in the exact same dress I’d had in my Asos shopping basket just weeks earlier.
If in doubt, safest to just double check with the bride… but if you’re already doubting your dress that might be all the answer you need.
“I need every major event to have this strict and clear of a dress code PLEASE this makes everything so much easier,” penned a third.
Others weren’t convinced it was a good idea.
Meanwhile a fourth said: “Sad beige wedding.”
“This is why I hate going to weddings. Even as a guest now it’s expensive,” claimed a fifth.
Someone else added: “id hate it as those colours do absolutely nothing for me so I’d probably feel uncomfortable all day.”
