THE summer is here, and after experiencing some scorching weather in the last few weeks it looks like we’re about to have more.
The Met Office predicts we could have some “above average” weather within the next couple of weeks.
Forecaster James Madden said in a recent update on the Exacta Weather Facebook page that the temperature could improve starting next Monday, July 8.
He said: “We now expect the more southern-driven jet stream to start to drive northwards from in and around this time next week and during the following week, starting on July 8th.
“This will allow for our shores [UK and Ireland] to come under a much warmer airflow over an extended period from this pattern change.
“It will also place us in an extremely favourable position for high pressure rises and some hot to very hot temperatures on a widespread scale from in and around mid-July and throughout much of the second half of the month.”
It looks like it will be just in time for Aldi, who is about to launch a range perfect for it.
The German retailer will release a line of summer essentials including swimming pools and a hammock with prices starting from as low as £1.99.
If you enjoy the weightless feeling of being in the water, you’ll love their £4.99 Water Hammock.
Aldi bosses have described it as “a comfortable cocoon directly in the water giving the sensation of weightless and gentle floating.
Shoppers can choose from a bright watermelon pattern or classic summery stripes to inject some calm into a day by the pool.
If the kids are a bit more adventurous and enjoy a thrill, the shop is selling a £12.99 Double Waterslide which includes “sponge soakers, floats and super splash booster.”
An Inflatable Net Assortment and LED Water Ball are some accessories included in the range and are set to retail for £5.99 and £4.99 respectively.
If being soaking wet isn’t for them, Aldi is also offering Wooden Garden Games, which retails for £12.99.
The set will feature “supersize versions of board game favourites – including Giant Toppling Tower, Giant Four in a Row, Rounders, and a Ring Toss Set.”
Other items being sold in the new release include hoola hoops and skipping ropes which you can grab for just £1.99!
WHEN it comes to shopping at Aldi, the best time to do so depends on what you want to buy.
For reduced items – when shops open
Red sticker items are rare at Aldi’s 830 UK stores, but the supermarket says that none of its food goes to waste so there are some to be found – if you’re quick.
A spokesman for the supermarket said: “All items are reduced to 50 per cent of the recommend sales price before stores open on their best before or use by dates.”
That means you have the best chance of finding reduced food items if you go into stores as soon as it opens.
Opening times vary by shop but a majority open from 7am or 8am. You can find your nearest store’s times by using the supermarket’s online shop finder tool.
For Specialbuys – Thursdays and Sundays
Specialbuys are Aldi’s weekly collection of items that it doesn’t normally sell, which can range from pizza ovens to power tools.
New stock comes into stores every Thursday and Sunday, so naturally, these are the best days to visit for the best one-off special deals.
For an even better chance of bagging the best items, head there for your local store’s opening time.
You don’t have to head into stores to bag a Specialbuy, though.
They also go on sale online, usually at midnight on Thursday and Sunday, and you can pre-order them up to a week in advance.
As long as you spend at least £25, you’ll get the items delivered for free.
Remember: once they’re gone, they’re gone, so if there’s something you really want, visit as early as possible
The new range will be released on July 11 but Aldi bosses warn: “Sun-worshippers had better be quick as with all Specialbuys once they’re gone, they’re gone!”
Elsewhere, the supermarket has been praised by shoppers for the food they are selling.
Aldi’s Specially Selected Garlic & Herb Butter is back on shelves for a limited time and costs just £1.59.
On social media, the retailer confirmed it’s staying around for the summer after fans of the aromatic butter said they were desperate to get their hands on it.
It seems like it may be a seasonal item as many mentioned last having some at Christmas.
“I bought this at Christmas and I’m very glad to see it’s back,” said one happy customer.
Another said: “This sounds heavenly.”
A third penned: “Yesssss it’s coming back!”
