She returned this afternoon to tell fans she’s recovering in hospital – but admits she’ll be there “for a while”.
Posting snaps of her in her hospital bed, Vicky said: “They think it’s glandular fever, a big infection and an abscess in my throat.
“I didn’t allow myself any recovery time after covid and it’s just compromised my immune system I suppose.
“I haven’t allowed myself any downtime this year, I have burnt the candle at both ends, worked a punishing schedule &and ignored all signs that my body was desperate for a break.
“I’ve been feeling drained, overwhelmed, can’t sleep at night for anxiety, exhausted in the morning, loss of appetite, not prioritising my exercise… I haven’t done anything since the half marathon in April which is so unlike me.
This has been the wake up call I needed but I’m angry with myself I let it go this far. I’ll be in hospital for a while and I think it’s for the best.”
Vicky had originally believed she would be out of hospital later today.
However, in a post on Instagram she explained the extent of her illness, before adding: “There’s far more important things to worry about going on in the world.”
Taking fans through the last few days of her health scare, Vicky explained: “I woke up on Thursday with a terrible headache, I ignored it and assumed it was because I’d had super long day the day before.
“Anyway it persisted & became a sore throat, razor blade vibes & I got the fever, aches, pains, sore joints etc.
“I tried to get to an emergency doctors appointment but we got stuck in a terrible accident- a journey that should have take an hour took six and even though the doctor did his best on the phone he had no real way of knowing what was best.
“Fast forward 24 hours and I had started to be sick which was just making everything worse – my throat was so swollen I couldn’t swallow, drink water & pain killers were completely out of the question. It was getting to the point where I physically couldn’t move.
“Starting to feel scared, I made another emergency app with my doctor and was referred straight to A&E. after around 36 hours, about six bags of fluid, three of antibiotics and an untold amount of pain relief, we’re starting to get to the bottom of things.”
Vicky reassured fans she’s starting to feel “much better”, before adding: “But I’m absolutely flying off my pain meds so I hope this isn’t all a bit too chaotic.”
