Missing Jay Slater spotted ‘staggering back to his feet’ by clubbers in new video at Tenerife rave

MISSING Jay Slater appears to stagger back to his feet after falling to the ground at a club in bombshell new footage obtained by The Sun.

The partygoer, 19, was seen raving at 1am last Monday at Papagayo nightclub as part of the hard dance NRG music festival in Tenerife.

Our video shows revellers partying on a packed dance floor as a trance anthem belts through the room and strobe lights cut through the air.

As a cloud of smoke shoots from a machine, engulfing the clubbers, a number of lads turn their heads towards Jay, who appears to be on the ground.

He is then seen standing up with his shirt hanging around his neck, seemingly unsteady on his feet.

One partygoer, 20, said: “It was a good atmosphere, it was hard dance music and everybody was having a good time vibing away.

“I wanted to remember the moment so I started filming, then I saw a lad staggering around in front of me.

“You could see him get up off the ground, everyone turned there to look. They looked a bit concerned.

“I had no idea it was Jay at first, he was proper worse for wear. He was with a couple of lads and a girl.

“It was only after we read The Sun and saw pictures of him. I looked back my videos and my blood ran cold, knowing he was gone.

“All our mates seen it the next day, we were all shocked thinking it could have been me.”

The raver, who was on his first oversees festival trip with seven pals, said most of the attendees at the three-day event were aged between 18 and 25.

He added: “There were drugs being sold but festival was well run and the security was safe. Nobody felt pressured to do anything.

“When you hear of the things that could happen to people it makes you question everything, a quick decision could become your last.”

Search and rescue are scouring several outbuildings near Jay’s last known location

The footage captured the moment DJ BLK played to the crowd. It is unclear how long Jay remained in the club, which closed at around 4am.

The NRG festival, a series of high-beats per minute parties, attracts tens of thousands of punters and invites them to rave all night long.

The search for Lancashire lad Jay continues today, with search crews picking their way through thick foliage on a 2,000-ft deep ravine in rural Masca.

Jay, of Oswaldtwistle, disappeared on Monday morning after leaving two pals he met clubbing at their small AirBnb cottage near the remote village of Masca.

He called pal Lucy Law and told her he was exhausted and thirsty, with just one per cent battery on his phone.

The walk from Jay’s last-known location to his accommodation would have taken about 11 hours on foot.

Mum Debbie Duncan revealed a witness went to cops and claimed to have seen the teen sitting on a bench 3.5 miles away in Santiago del Teide, some ten hours after he was last heard from.

This has not been confirmed by police, who are not replying to enquiries.

Meanwhile a detective-turned-TV investigator who exposed Jimmy Savile’s horrific crimes and probed the disappearance of Madeleine McCann yesterday offered to help Debbie track down Jay.

Mark Williams-Thomas revealed he contacted her amid mounting speculation over what happened to the holidaymaker.

Search teams attempting to find Jay on Sunday narrowed their efforts on small buildings close to where his phone last pinged on Monday morning.

Officers from the Guardia Civil could be seen circling two structures at the bottom of a ravine near Masca in Rural de Teno Park – dubbed the badlands by locals.

Efforts appeared to be focused on the one area after days of searches in the rural mountain village of Masca and the surrounding landscape.

They were seen looking into blue barrels outside one of the small buildings.

The efforts come after Debbie issued a direct plea to her missing son, saying: “We just need you home.”

Debbie said she has “not slept” since the 19-year-old disappeared.

She said she did not know whether the Spanish authorities turning down an offer of help from the UK was because they viewed it as “an insult”.

She added: “We’re not coping. I’m not coping very well at all.

“I’ve not slept, I’m exhausted. It’s been awful. I can’t give up on him, I just can’t.

“People say: ‘Yeah, I understand’ – no, you don’t, you don’t understand.

“We just need you home – we just need him home.”

The NRG festival issued a statement in which it said it was able to “give some practical support” to Jay’s family, including rooms at a hotel.

A GoFundMe page for Mr Slater’s family raised more than £30,000 and claims it will go towards family and pals staying in Tenerife while the hunt continues.
