ONE WOMAN has scooped double her neighbours and won a massive £640,000 lotto jackpot after using a sneaky trick.
Debbie has continued to play the People’s Postcode Lottery at her father’s address in Penarth Heights, Cardiff, despite moving away several years ago.
Now she’s come up trumps after the CF64 3PY postcode on Hazel Road won the Postcode Millions draw and she came away with double the winnings.
Each ticket in the Welsh neighbourhood was worth £320,000, but the clever cookie had bought two tickets and so won £640,000.
She said: “Then to get the first cheque was incredible, but to get two? I couldn’t speak – I’m still in shock.”
Now Debbie is planning to head on a US road trip to celebrate her 60th birthday and visit Elvis’s home of Graceland in Memphis, Tennessee.
She said: “Oh my God! It’s unbelievable. I can go to Graceland for my 60th!
“I don’t win anything at all. I can’t believe it. It’s going to be life-changing.”
Keith, Debbie’s husband, said he had found out first and called his wife at work to tell her.
He said: “Debbie has been playing with this postcode for years and kept doing it even when we moved out. I then started playing at our home in Penarth Heights, hoping one day we’d win.
“I think our lives have just changed forever. The whole day feels like a dream. This doesn’t happen to us; you couldn’t write this sort of thing.”
The pair had actually argued over the week as Debbie had asked Keith to be home for a visit from the People’s Postcode Lottery.
Debbie was told she had won “at least £2,000” and wanted Keith to be there when she received the cheque.
But, she won so much more.
Keith said: “I’ve argued with my wife all week but I’m so glad I was home.
“I was sceptical from the day Debbie got the call. I still didn’t believe it even when I woke up this morning, and then I saw the [Postcode Lottery team] on my street and it all became real.”
The pair are now planning holidays with the cash with Debbie wanting to head to the US.
“A few friends have been before, and I’ve always wanted to go. I’ll probably do New Orleans and then up to Nashville, then Memphis, Chicago.”
ACCORDING to the official website, players sign up with their postcode and pay £12 per month.
They are automatically entered into every draw and prizes are announced every day of the month.
Tickets play for prizes every day of the week – from Monday to Sunday, a ticket could win £1,000 each day in the Daily Prize.
Tickets could also win a jackpot of £30,000 in Saturday and Sunday’s Street Prize draws.
People’s Postcode Lottery also offer a £3 Million Postcode Millions draw each month – and your ticket plays for a share of a £3 Million cash prize fund.
Winners are notified by email, SMS message, mail or phonecall depending on the prize they win.
Jackpot winners are visited by the lottery team in person.
