NABBING yourself a yellow-sticker bargain at your local supermarket is all about being at the right place, right time.
And one man who found himself in that very fortunate situation was Matthew – and he most certainly made the most of that situation!
The bargain hunter found himself alone in Tesco shortly before closing time, so cleared the shelves of discounted buys, and saved himself a small fortune in the process.
Taking to Facebook group Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls, he posted a snap of his very impressive food haul which covered most of his living room floor.
Alongside the photo, he explained: “Had a warning my phone storage was nearly full so started going through old photos and videos to delete them and this one popped up again from Christmas eve 2016.
“My best haul ever!
“Around £400 worth for £40.
“I was the only person in the store about 20 minutes before it was closing so took the lot.”

Matthew
It wasn’t long before the post was flooded with over 452 likes and 50 comments, with many noting the price that would cost today due to inflation.
“Today that would cost you probably £800,” wrote one.
A second commented: “Don’t get many offers like that now.”
A third added: “Those were the days!”
Elsewhere, others were full of praise for Matthew and were quick to commend him on his mega discounted food haul.
The time supermarkets reduce their products vary across stores.

Aldi
Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.
This is when they have reached the last day of shelf life.
Red stickered items are most commonly found at opening and closing times.
M&S
Reduction times can vary from store to store but is most likely to occur near closing time.
Asda
Asda told Which? that yellow stickers are applied twice a day – in the morning and evening.
Co-op
Co-op told The Sun its reduced-to-clear prices are generally applied about four hours before the store closes.
Lidl
Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with reductions twice a day.
However individual stores may opt to reduce prices throughout the day.
Morrisons
Shoppers online have said that Morrisons does the best bargains first thing in the morning.
However, the store told Which? that there are no specific times for yellow sticker price cuts.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s told The Sun it’s at the store manager’s discretion whether to offer discounts.
However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm.
Tesco
Tesco has said there is no specific time for reduction, but again most people found that prices were reduced from 6pm.
Waitrose
As with most of the other stores, Waitrose shoppers have said the best reductions are found before closing.
However the store stated that there is no specific time for yellow stickers to be applied.
“Absolutely fantastic! Wow I’m well impressed,” enthused one social media user.
Another recalled: “I had a dozen turkey crown’s several joints of beef lamb and ham one year at 90% off filled a fair sized freezer and fed my family for month’s! Well done you!”
A further penned: “Amazing – there at the right time!”
“Have you finished eating it all yet? joked another.
And one more chimed in: “Wow just wow, now that’s what I call a haul!”
