MOTOROLA has unveiled a new smartphone that beats Samsung on price and Apple’s iPhones on battery life.
There’s also a major perk for selfie lovers.
Like the rest of this year’s line up, Moto AI – Motorola’s native artificial intelligence (AI) software – has been injected into the fusion device[/caption] The ‘fusion’ device (R) is the cheapest handset out of Motorola’s 2024 line up[/caption]The Motorola edge 50 fusion, officially unveiled today, will hit shelves in the UK in mid-May for £349.
It beats Samsung’s cheapest S24 device by an eyewatering £450.
Meanwhile, the gadget boasts a whopping 5,000mAh battery.
For comparison, the newest iPhone 15 has a 3,367mAh battery.
This means it lasts way longer than your average iPhone.
A 50MP main Ultra Pixel camera also puts the picture quality on par with Apple’s iPhone 15, which has a 48MP main camera.
But the front camera, at 32MP, is more than double the mega-pixel quality of an iPhone 15s front camera.
Whether it will be enough to settle the Android v iPhone debate, remains to be seen.
10 other features the Motorola edge 50 fusion has:
The handset comes in Hot Pink, Marshmallow Blue and Forest Blue colourways with vegan leather-style backs.
The ‘fusion’ device is the cheapest handset out of Motorola’s 2024 line up: Edge 50 ultra / £849, Edge 50 pro / £599, and Edge 50 fusion / £349.
For consumers in the UK, the edge 50 fusion can be purchased at Currys, Amazon, Argos and Motorola.
Like the rest of this year’s line up, Moto AI – Motorola’s native artificial intelligence (AI) software – has been injected into the fusion device.
It’s used to boost image quality, making high-action videos smoother, as well as improving low-light and night photography.
Moto AI also lets users generate unique wallpapers for their devices that can match their surroundings, and even their outfits.
The devices – because they are part of the Android family – benefit from the Google network.
Google Photos, for example, is Motorola’s native gallery application for photos and videos.
This means users will soon be able to access even more enhanced AI editing tools, including: Magic Editor, Magic Eraser and Photo Unblur.
