ONE homeowner who wanted to keep the peeping Toms away wound up transforming her entire outdoor space.
Her DIY planter box not only gave her privacy but also a posh upgrade.
In a viral video, Katelyn (@katelynwine) was not loving how her neighbors had a “full view” of her patio.
This prompted her and her partner to come up with a plan.
A tall planter box seemed like the perfect solution for giving the feeling of seclusion.
It just needed a decorative touch – or two.
Some black paint gave the plain-looking planter a whole new look.
Incorporating fake plants also added more height.
Transforming your own planter helps to keep prying eyes away all while looking so good you won’t want to take your eyes away from it.
The best part is that it doesn’t require any home owner’s association approval.
Many of her fans could also relate to her desire for privacy.
“That’s one thing that’s important to me when I buy – privacy in my backyard. People don’t realize how crucial it is to some of us/introverts,” said one follower.
“For those saying neighbors don’t watch you, well mine does! I caught her multiple times, even my renters have too! I have to catch her on video too,” said another viewer.
Yet others gave their own suggestions for styling an outdoor space.
“Home Depot has drop-down shades/privacy curtains – for $22 we have two for this reason exactly and I love them,” said one watcher.
“Planter box is a good idea, having a real tree would be much more suitable if you want 100% privacy. The work you have done looks nice,” said another watcher.
To get started on your own budget-friendly DIY privacy project, Home Depot sells a Brooklin stained wood planter box for $29.97.
The weather-resistant buy which requires no assembly, is described as being ideal for outdoor spaces including decks, patios, and porches.

5. Get creative
“Finally, turn your entire outdoor area into an artistic installation,” Bech said.
The planter, which can be customized with spray paint, includes two drainage holes.
