A GLOBETROTTING TV host has revealed his top travelling tips, including the best plane seat to book for long flights
Dr Musa Mthombeni, who is set to jet to Turkey and Thailand for a radiologist conference in Chiang Mai in the near future, is no stranger to travel, along with his former Miss South Africa wife Liesl Laurie.
He advised travellers should check in as early as possible so you can pick the seat you wanted.
He told IOL: “If you know that your bladder is small, preferably pick an aisle seat so that can jump out without bothering too many people.
“I can usually sit for many hours without having to move.
“I am a lover of movies and series, so in-flight entertainment excites me and keeps me entertained for the long flight.”
Dr Mthombeni also advised what people should wear.
He said: “As you get ready, pick the most comfortable outfit, put on the most comfortable shoes, and pack your carry-on with essentials for a pleasant flight experience.”
And inside his carry-on bag he takes his laptop or an iPad and headphones and what he describes as “basic goodies” which include face wash and moisturiser and sunscreen as well.
He also recommended taking your own toothbrush and toothpaste.
Once on board, the doctor recommended people practised relaxation techniques in order to keep their minds entertained and alleviate any discomfort during the flight.
Dr Mthombeni also recommended travelling as much as you can, especially when younger.
He said: “If you have leave days, take the leave days.
“So as much as you can while you’re still young and are able to travel because the future isn’t guaranteed, and anything can happen.
“If you can travel, do it.”
It comes after experts revealed which plane seat people needed to pick if they wanted to increase their chances of sleeping.
But popular seats need to be booked well in advance to avoid major seating disasters on a plane.
But a flight attendant has revealed the huge seat-swapping mistake you should avoid as it drives crew mad.
