Manchester City vs Luton
Only Sheffield United and Burnley have conceded more league goals than the Hatters this season and so a trip to the treble winners’ lair could end in disaster.
Erling Haaland scored FIVE goals against Rob Edwards’ side back in February and will be eager to get back among the goals after a subdued showing against Real Madrid in midweek.
The hosts have some injury concerns but they’re massive favourites to continue their unbeaten streak at the Etihad – our friends at talkSPORT BET have City to win at 1/14!
Our Prediction: 4-0 to Man City
Haaland decimated Luton at Kenilworth Road[/caption]Bournemouth vs Manchester United
This match-up has to be considered a potential banana skin for the unpredictable Red Devils as the Cherries won the reverse fixture 3-0 earlier in the campaign.
Andoni Iraola’s men lost to Luton in their most recent outing but that was their first defeat since the start of March – four wins in six puts them fifth in the form table.
Man United somehow shared the points with Liverpool last weekend despite allowing the Reds 28 shots at Old Trafford but before that they snatched defeat from the jaws of victory at Stamford Bridge.
Erik ten Hag’s side have been involved in some crazy, open-ended games this term and Bournemouth would probably welcome another this Saturday.
Our Prediction: 2-2 draw
Bournemouth beat Man United 3-0 in the reverse fixture[/caption]Liverpool vs Crystal Palace
There was a time when the Eagles were a bogey team for the Merseyside giants but Jurgen Klopp has generally enjoyed this fixture since taking the reins.
Liverpool haven’t lost to Palace since 2017, winning 11 of the last 13 meetings – although the two draws are relatively recent.
The hosts boast an immense record at Anfield this season having amassed 42 points from a possible 48 – the highest tally in the top flight.
Mohamed Salah and company average 2.7 goals per league game at home in 2023/24 while Oliver Glasner’s troops have scored 15 goals in 16 away days.
The stats suggest a 3-1 home win which is a common result for Liverpool this season.
Our Prediction: 3-1 to Liverpool
Arsenal vs Aston Villa
On paper, the Gunners have the toughest match-up among the title contenders this weekend but the Villains’ 3-3 draw to 15th-placed Brentford last Saturday suggests they’re not in a position to cause an upset at the Emirates.
Unai Emery’s side were excellent in the reverse fixture back in December but their form has tailed away since then while Arsenal have gone from strength to strength.
Mikel Arteta’s side are top of the form table and their record of 33 goals scored and four conceded in their last ten league outings indicates a team thriving in both disciplines.
Arsenal have slightly longer to prepare for this clash with Villa in action against Lille in the Europa Conference League this evening.
Our Prediction: 2-0 to Arsenal
Arsenal will be out for revenge against Villa this weekend[/caption]Chelsea vs Everton
In terms of positives for the Toffees, they achieved a much-needed win last time out, albeit a narrow one over Burnley, and their away form is better than their home form.
However, the Blues are unbeaten in the league since February 4th with Cole Palmer spearheading an increasingly effective attacking unit.
Mauricio Pochettino still has plenty of work to do but Everton’s blunt attack (only Sheffield United have scored fewer league goals this season) should help the hosts’ rickety defence.
The recent history of this fixture is dead even; since the start of 2020 each team has three wins over the other, plus two draws.
Our Prediction: 1-0 to Chelsea
Everton simply don’t have a goalscorer in Palmer’s bracket[/caption]Think you know better? You’re almost certainly correct!
