CLEANING the bathroom is one of those annoying adult chores that never seems to end, with endless scrubbing and bleaching.
While we can’t remove cleaning the bathroom from your to-do list, the Fabulous team tested some TikTok hacks to see if they really help spruce up your space.
SCENT-SATIONAL
The first and perhaps easiest hack on list is using cotton ball to help remove any lingering odours from your bathroom.
Originally shared by cleaning influencer Carolina Mccauley on TikTok, this nifty tips involves sprinkling a few drops of essential oil on cotton wool balls before popping them in your bin.
Not only can you customise the scent you use, the majority of supplies can be picked up for a few pounds at your local discount store.
For instance, you can find a 200 pack of cotton wool balls at B&M for just £1.49 and 10ml drop bottle of lavender essential oil on Amazon – which is only £2.49.
Though this hack is simple to do and will make your home smell heavenly, the scent disappears pretty quickly.
Having tried this hack late at night, I found that the essential oil had already evaporated by the morning – rendering this trick useless for anything more than a couple of hours of entertaining.

SCRUB-A-DUB-DUB
Our next hack is a classic cleaning tip: using white vinegar and a sandwich bag to remove limescale from your shower head.
Though plenty of influencer have shared this handy hack, US mum Tiffany Napier went viral after sharing her impressive before and after.
Her sandwich bag filled with brown coloured water.
If you are one of the 4.1 million people who saw her hack on TikTok and are tempted to try it, you will simply need to fill a sandwich bag full of white vinegar and pop it over your shower head.
For a deep clean, make sure you tie the bag with a rubber band before leaving it overnight – and as you wake up in the morning, your shower will be sparkling.
Even better, you can easily find all the supplies you need at Poundland with a pack of rubber bands, a 20 pack of sandwich bags and a spray bottle of white vinegar costing £3 in total.
Sadly, I didn’t get such impressive results as my zip lock was only a little cloudy after leaving it over night.
However, I still would recommend doing this hack as it will help to stop gunk building up – especially in hard water areas.
There is a reason why this hack has been tried and tested.

CLEAR VIEW
If you’ve ever lived in a hard water area like I do, you’ll know how frustrating it can be when trying to remove water stains from your shower door.
Since moving in to a rental property in London last year, the limescale on my shower screen doors has been the bane of my life.
Having watched influencer Jeannie easily remove hard water stains from her bathroom, I was hopeful that I would finally be able to get my shower squeaky clean.
If you’ve not seen her viral video, the domestic goddess used a long handled sponge filled with washing up liquid and white vinegar to get scrub away the stains with a little warm water.
Rather than simply doing this once in a while, the mum revealed that she kept a pre-filled sponge in her bathroom and wiped down the surfaces after every wash.
It’s not hard to see the appeal of this hack, as most of the essential supplies cost between £1 – £3, and we even found a long-handled Dishmatic sponge for £3 in B&M.
While this quick cleaning hack is great for soft water areas, it just didn’t have enough umph to stop the hard water stains returning.

IN THE PINK
For those who are still struggling with hard water stains, you’ve probably seen Samina’s viral TikTok where she uses The Pink Stuff cream on her shower doors.
Having picked up a tub of the iconic cleaning product, the influencer applied a thin layer of the thick cream to her glass, before using a hard brush and warm water to scrub away any hard water stains.
The cleaning whizz then followed up by wiping down the surfaces with microfibre cloth and squeegee, for a streak free finish.
Originally posted in 2022, the hack had been on my radar for a while and I’d been tempted to try it.
Despite my best effort though, I found that I was left with smeary pink streaks all over the glass which were tough to budge.
Even more annoyingly, the £1.50 paste left pink splotches all over the white tiles in my bathroom.
Having seen how effective The Pink Stuff has been in other areas of my home, it was disappointing that this hack didn’t seem to hit the mark.
While it might have been user error, I’m left wondering how I’ll ever remove these stains so I can get my deposit back.
Safe to say, my flatmates were not best pleased.

ALL-A-FIZZ
Denture cleaning tablets aren’t usually on people’s shopping lists, unless you are a senior citizen that is.
However, they might be added to mine more often, after testing our Chantel Mila’s cleaning hack.
Instead of using bleach, the Aussie influencer added a couple of tablets to her sink with warm water to leave it sparkling.
While you wouldn’t think the effervescent tablets would be that powerful, I was actually impressed with how effective they were.
After leaving them to soak for ten minutes, they removed most of the toothpaste residue on my sink, meaning it just needed to be rinse off and wiped with a microfibre cloth.
Even better, you can pop a few tablets down your loo and leave them to soak overnight to keep it stain free – not bad for a £1 product.
