WASHING bedding can be difficult at the best of times, with bulky duvet covers, long drying times and annoying yellow sweat stains.
Though you can’t stop laundry from piling up, you can make washing bedding a little better thanks to a 45p product – but you won’t find it in the detergent aisle.
This laundry item is a ‘must have’ if you want to get brilliant whites[/caption] Facebook users claim the laundry tool ‘works wonders’ with bedding[/caption]Whilst this sounds too good to be true, this fool-proof product has been tried and tested by cleaning whizzes across the country.
In fact, the nifty hack has even gone viral after being discussed in the Mrs Hinch Cleaning Tips group on Facebook.
Desperate to get their white bedding looking brighter, one member asked the group if they had any tricks for removing sweat stains.
Sharing a picture of their yellowing bedding, they revealed that they’d even add bleach to every cycle to try and keep their whites bright.
They explained: “When washing my white bedding I always add 1.5 cups of Ace bleach (20 mins in to the cycle), and wash at 60 degrees with biological powder.”
Fed up with having off-white bedsheets, they complained that they’d used this method since ‘day one’ but their covers had still been stained.
Thankfully, the group suggested using Napisan to get the bedding back to brilliant white.
“Soak [it] in Napisan overnight, best stuff there is,” gushed one Facebook user, with another adding that the baby detergent ‘works wonders’.
Many agreed and stated Napisan could easily be found at most supermarkets, with a third writing: “Always works for my pillow cases. It is usually in the baby aisle at the supermarket not with the laundry products.”
Others suggest using the product in your washing machine, with a fourth Facebook user stating that they added it to ‘every white load’.
“I usually put a liquid dosing thing in the drum,” they explained, with the powder containing active oxygen to get rid of built grime and any lingering bacteria.
Specially formulated for baby clothes, this super sensitive detergent can all get your whites gleaming even at low temperatures – including 30 degrees.
In fact, one domestic goddess even recommends using it at a lower temperature to prevent additional yellowing.
“Soak in Napisan [but] don’t boil wash it,” they suggested, saying: “It’s too hot if it [the bedding] contains polyester [and] it will turn yellow.”
If you are tempted to try this hack on your bedding and towels, you can pick a 800g box of Napisan for just £4.50 in Tesco.
Even better, you’ll only need about a cap full per wash depending on how stained your laundry – which means you could pay as little 45p per wash.
For those still struggling to get their whites bright, you can also try adding half a cup of baking soda to your laundry load.
Then you can later add half a cup of vinegar during the rinse cycle to power through those sweat stains without any lingering smell.
Sounds like you’ll clean up with this hack.
