A WOMAN has shared how to get rid of dark under eye circles using a natural homemade remedy that takes just seconds to prepare.
From poor sleep to genetics and ageing, there a number of reasons why you may have dark under eye bags – and although you could just apply some brightening concealer, a woman has shared a more natural solution that uses cupboard essentials.
That’s right, according to beauty fan Mary Renée, there’s no need to splurge out on pricey drugstore make-up form the high-street – the answer to banishing under eye circles can be found in your kitchen.
Taking to TikTok, the stunner revealed how to tackle the common beauty concern with a 2p hack in just minutes – and it’s all thanks to honey and your favourite morning brew, coffee.
According to Mary, there are several benefits to this ”organic eye mask” – not only will it improve the skin tone around your eyes but also help with reducing puffiness.
The easy recipe, which is budget-friendly, calls for just two teaspoons of coffee grounds, as well as one teaspoon of liquid honey, which you then mix all together with one teaspoon of water to make it easier to apply, she explained in the video.
Once all the ingredients have been combined, apply it on a clean face around the eye area and let the mixture work its magic for around 15 to 30 minutes.
After this, she said, it’s time to gently rinse it off and complete the process with your regular skincare routine.
Advising fellow beauty lovers to not sleep on this hack, Mary wrote in the caption: ”I tried this organic eye mask for dark eye circles & eye puffiness and GWORL it mot only brightened but SNATCHED my eyes UP.”
Since sharing the trick on her platform, where she boasts more than a whopping 185k followers, the clip’s won dozens of comments, with people racing to thank her – and some also raving about the coffee trick too.

But what’s the science behind coffee grounds and honey for improving the appearance of your under eye circles?
According to the lifestyle magazine Goss, the caffeine in coffee is thought to improve blood circulation which, in turns, reduces the puffiness and the darker colour, while honey adds a boost of hydration and moisture to the skin.
Licensed aesthetician Melissa Jannes explained that as a diuretic – medicines that help reduce fluid build-up in the body – the caffeine in the coffee grounds is indeed a remedy worth trying.
Dr Amit Bangia, Senior Consultant Dermatologist, Asian Hospital, Faridabad, added that ”coffee is also anti-inflammatory and high in antioxidants, which means it reduces the damage caused by lack of sleep on the skin around the eyes”, Health Shots reported.
”Additionally, caffeine in coffee has the ability to absorb accumulated water and is extremely effective in reducing puffiness and swelling around the eyes.”
