A WOMAN has revealed that she lives on a boat with her partner and their dog and they have figured out six ways to battle the cold in the winter.
So if you’re trying to save money and don’t want to turn your heating on, you’ve come to the right place.
Maisy explained that she uses insulation on her doors to keep the cold air out[/caption] She also wears a cosy sherpa to keep warm[/caption]Maisy Dewey and her partner Harr Kent live in a boat in London with their dog Kipper.
Maisy claimed that staying warm isn’t necessarily about wrapping up in layers – instead, if you want to be cosy, according to her, you’ll need to drink warm tea and ensure your doors are sealed with thermal fabric.
Posting on social media, Maisy shared her clip sharing her money-saving heating advice, with the caption ‘Keeping cosy this winter.’
She then said: “This is how we stay warm living on a boat in London in the winter and it’s not about bundling up inside all the time.
“First thing is we keep the door sealed with a thermal fabric.
“This is kind of annoying because you have to do it and un-do it every time you come in and out, but I think it’s worth it.
“Next, we each have a trusty sherpa which we wear most of the time.
“Number three is having a velcro dog that is constantly attached to you and keeping you warm.”
If you haven’t got a pet you can cuddle up to, fear not, as Maisy continued: “Number four is hot tea for me and Harry and warm winter on top of Kipper’s kibble.
“Number five, maybe the most obvious thing, we have electric heaters. I don’t think this is super common for narrowboats in London.
“A lot of our neighbours have wood fireplaces and they are constantly lugging wood in and out of our boats. I feel very lucky that we don’t have to do that.
“Number six, for most people, would be a hot water bottle.”
The TikTok clip, which was posted under the username @maisydewey, has clearly impressed many, as it was shared just 11 hours ago, but has quickly amassed 30,200 views.
One person said: “This is the nicest boat I think I’ve ever seen!!”
Another added: “So cute!”
Whilst a third commented: “Is the electric heater expensive to run? I wonder why more boat dwellers don’t go for that convenience.”
To this, someone else replied: “It would drain the batteries, I think that’s why most people would opt for a log burner. If my electricity totally drained, at least I can be warm.”
