GLADIATORS star Steel has revealed his incredible body transformation after a fast food “addiction”.
There are just days to go until the Gladiators reboot finally kicks off on BBC One.
But he’s revealed he wasn’t always so body confident[/caption]And one of the new generation of stars is Zack George – aka Steel – who was named the UK’s fittest man in 2020.
But he hasn’t always been so body confident and Steel opened up about struggling with confidence when he was a child.
He said: “My dad could tell I was quite unhappy, I used to try and skip swimming lessons because I was so self-conscious of how I looked and didn’t take my top off.”
Steel added to Metro.co.uk: “I used to have McDonald’s and KFC three or four times a week, it was a really unhealthy lifestyle.”
He was just 12 when he made the decision to get fitter and, with the support of his parents, sparked the journey that led to him becoming one of the new Gladiators.
Steel continued: “Without saying it, they came on the journey with me, we all cleaned up our diet, we didn’t have chocolate or sweets in the house.
“It’s crazy looking back because when I was younger and overweight, I used to watch Gladiators and draw a pretend six pack on my stomach, because I could never think about ever having abs.”
The new series will be hosted by Bradley Walsh and his son Barney, 26.
Viewers will see a new generation of 16 Gladiators introduced on screen.
