FAMILIES are being urged to get their summer holidays booked by tomorrow to make use of ‘Sunshine Saturday’ and save hundreds on their next trip.
The first Saturday after the festive period has been coined ‘Sunshine Saturday’ by travel industry execs as punters can bag the best discounts, according to Sky News.
One of the companies, Tui, is already advertising £300 off a seven-day trip to Rio Playa Blanca in March.
Jet2 are offering £50 off per person, or £60 off per person with a ‘myjet2’ account. Other deals are being offered to Malta, Costa Blanca, Majorca and more, all for discounted prices.
And EasyJet are still running their ‘Big Orange Sale’ which is saving customers £300 on their next holiday, but with a minimum spend of £800.
Thomas Cook are offering up to 25 per cent off selected hotels in locations such as Greece, Cyprus and the Canary Islands.
And finally, First Choice are offering up to £250 off selected holidays for the summer, but only for holidays booked between May and October this years.
Speaking to the outlet, chief operating officer at Hays Travel, Jonathon Woodall-Johnston, said he expects tomorrow to be “the biggest Saturday of the year”.
Other companies have noted that not even a week into the new year demand is high and deals are being snapped up by hopeful holiday makers.
Jonathon Woodall-Johnston added that current popular destinations include Turkey, Spain, the Canaries and Portugal.
And it’s not just the holidays that are discounted, less-seeming essentials like travel insurance are 20 per cent off with Holidaysafe.
However, some experts are warning people to keep a close eye on the small print, and not to get caught out by hidden fees.
Consumer expert at hotukdeals and host of the False Economy podcast, Vix Leyton, said: “The excitement of the red stickers and promise of meaningful money off can often lead to hurried decisions that you pay for later.
“Whilst there will undoubtedly be a few flagship deals to hook you in, a lot of them will amount to ‘so what?’ savings that you could make at another time of the year through savvy shopping around.”
Other ways to make sure you’re getting the right deal is to follow some simple rules when checking out the latest deals.
Comparing dates, travel agents, travel times and hotels can have a significant effect on the cost of your holiday, and for bigger families savings can be substantial.
One key thing to remember when you’re searching online is to use ‘private’ or ‘incognito’ browsers so that travel companies are not alerted that you have already been looking at flights.
