DEAR DEIDRE: I HAVE felt so alone since my wife died suddenly from cancer two years ago.
We were together for 40 years and barely spent any time apart.
I’m 77 and she was 74.
There were no signs of her illness, and we had no clue she was unwell until it was too late.
One day she was there and the next she had vanished. Now I’m desperate for a bit of company to make my days less lonely.
We always loved going for walks together and, while I still now go on my own, I’d love to have a friend join me.
Our local paper used to have a meet-up column, but I’ve looked and I can’t find anything.
Where can I find myself a buddy? I’m desperate for someone to talk to.
Every problem gets a personal reply from one of our trained councillors.

DEIDRE SAYS: I am sorry to hear that you are feeling lonely at the moment.
Take a look at meetup.com, it’s a great website with plenty of groups you can connect with.
See my support pack Widening Your Social Scene, which may help.
