A MUM has shared how she lovingly makes handmade hampers for her loved ones as Christmas gifts.
The woman, who posted a picture of her creations on Facebook, said she fills them with cleaning products that her daughters can’t get enough of – but not everyone’s convinced.
A lady shared a snap of two baskets covered in wrapping paper sitting side by side on Facebook’s Extreme Couponing and Bargains UK group.
Inside was lots of handy products that can be used all year around – from dishwasher tablets to all purpose wipes.
Alongside the snap, she wrote: “I make these hampers up every year for my daughters.
“It is always appreciated and I get the items when they are on offer throughout the year.”
She added: “Just add some cellophane and a bow and they will be ready.”
While the woman was pleased with the presents she makes, and the reaction she receives each year, other people in the group said it wouldn’t be something they would want to find under their tree.
One person cruelly said: “God, I would hate this lol and honestly don’t know anyone that would like it.”
A second was in agreement, as they commented under the post: “I’d hate this! Lol. Give me a chocolate hamper any day over this. Seriously.”
A third blasted the woman’s efforts when they wrote: “I would be mortified if my mum gave me a hamper of cleaning products.
“I’d think she was having a dig about my cleaning abilities.”
As a fourth commented: “Imagine getting Wilko wipes for Christmas.
“Everyday cleaning supplies aren’t gifts.”
However, others said the trolls were being disrespectful and that they would love to unwrap such a thoughtful gift on Christmas Day.
Hitting back at the unkind remarks, one social media user said: “This is my favourite type of gift! I love cleaning hampers!”
A second said: “I’d definitely be happy to receive a hamper like this as a present.
“Practical gifts are great in my opinion, as they actually get used instead of sitting on a shelf/ cupboard collecting dust.”
While others also said you could never have too many cleaning products – especially in a cost of living crisis – and that they were fans of making them too.
One wrote: “I’ve made hampers for my children for the past couple of years.
“I love getting everything together, especially as I start about September and buy one thing a week to help spread the cost.”
