LOVE Island is often seen as gateway to fame, but sometimes couples who met on the show really do go the distance.
Sadly, that isn’t the case for Gemma Owen and Luca Bish.
On November 16, 2022 Gemma Owen announced that her and Luca Bish had broken up.
It comes just three months after they finished as runners-up on Love Island on August 1, 2022.
Gemma said it was a “difficult decision” to end her romance with Luca who she was last pictured with at the start of November 2022.
She announced the break-up news on Instagram, and wrote: “I wanted to let you know that Luca and I are no longer in a relationship. It wasn’t an easy decision but ultimately this is what is best for both of us right now.

“Many of you have been on this journey with us from the beginning and I want to thank you for your continued support as a new chapter starts.”
Following the news, Luca also took to social media himself to make a statement to the former couple’s fans.
Luca said: “Switched my phone back on after taking some time out to clear my head after an emotional afternoon to thousands of messages and news articles about my breakup.”
He continued: “I would have liked some time to process this privately but as you all already now know sadly Gemma and I made the mutual decision earlier today to go our separate ways.”
The reality TV star told fans that the pair have made “amazing memories” which he will “treasure”, and he thanked everyone for their support since coming out of the Love Island villa.
The Love Island star concluded: “We will remain good friends and I wish nothing but the best for her.”
Gemma and Luca were runners up on Love Island over the summer, losing out to Davide and Ekin-Su.
The shock split came just two days after Luca told journalists all was well within his relationship as he appeared on the TV Choice Awards red carpet – with Gemma noticeably absent.
But Gemma sparked concern in October 2022 of trouble in paradise with Luca after failing to mention him in her interview with Tatler.
However, that same month, she also talked about them working a lot separately, and trying to make a long distance relationship work.
Speaking on her YouTube channel, she said: “It’s actually working fine.
“You know, we’re obviously still mad busy but we’re making time for each other and you know, whenever we can, he’s either up here or I’m down in Brighton.

“If we’re both working in London we’ll spend the night together so we’re just sort of making it work.
“He’s actually here now, we’re going to go and have some lunch later but everything is good in that department.”
