A DIABETIC dad has been left fuming after being slapped with a £100 parking fine because he stopped while having a fit at the wheel.

According to Mr Naz, he was in traffic when he felt himself go into “a hypo” (a hypoglycaemic fit) which meant his blood sugar was too low, a common issue for diabetics.
Knowing this could cause him to crash the car, he pulled over into the car park to have a chocolate bar and a carton of Ribena.
He was seen on CCTV entering the parking area at 2.06pm and leaving at 2.19 pm on 22 July.
The dad of two was shocked when he received a £100 fine in the post soon after.
He said: “I have a medical condition and I could have died or seriously hurt someone else if I carried on driving.
“I was lucky it was only a few minutes, usually it takes longer to recover from a hypo.”
He added that he did not even use a parking bay fully, but instead just pulled into the empty car park while he recovered.
Even then, he claims that he tried to pay but that both ticket machines where broken.
Excel parking rejected this, saying: “successful purchases were made by both machine and Connect Cashless throughout the day.”
Mr Naz has appealed the ticket twice, including through the Independent Appeals Service (IAS), but both attempted were rejected.
Commenting on this, Excel said: “The legally trained IAS adjudicator agreed that the Terms and Conditions were made sufficiently clear to motorists and that we had given an adequate consideration period prior to issuing the Parking Charge.
“Had Mr Naz made use of our helpline, which is clearly advertised on all of our signs, it is possible further provisions or advice could have been given which would have prevented him from receiving a Parking Charge.”
Their statement concluded by saying that they believe the fine was “correctly issued and pursued.”
