GEMMA Owen’s family have shared a cryptic ‘be kind’ message after fans slammed her as ‘rude’.

The 19-year-old – who is the daughter of footballer Michael Owen – is one of the 11 sexy singletons who are taking part in this year’s series of the ITV2 show.

Although many fans have been nice about the businesswoman on social media, some called her ‘rude’ after she mocked Luca Bish about his surname on the first night.

Gemma told the fish monger that she thought his name was “a bit unfortunate” – leaving viewers shocked.

Others have pointed out how she’s tried to name drop her famous dad a number of times during her chats with the other islanders.

Yesterday Gemma’s Instagram account reposted a video that Gogglebox star Scarlett Moffatt had put on her story talking about Gemma.

The reality favourite asked viewers to “be mindful” and think about what they’re writing before they publish it online.

In the video, Scarlett said: “Hey lovelies, I wanted to address Love Island. Have we learnt nothing?

“People need to be really mindful. I’m not saying that people can’t have an opinion on people on the telly, but when those opinions or negativity become disrespectful, become almost bullying, that’s when it needs to stop.

“Just because these people are aesthetically beautiful doesn’t mean that they don’t have feelings or emotions or souls.

“They are someone’s daughter, someone’s son. I think we just really nee to respect people.

“Poor Gemma I’ve seen so many nasty TikToks, people saying she’s trying to tell everyone her dad is Michael Owen. Firstly, so what? He is! I talk about my daily all the time.

“Secondly, someone asked her what her second name is was, she said Owen. Which it is.

“Thirdly, everyone was talking about football, and she had an opinion on it. Let’s just be nice. Let’s just be kind!”

Gemma’s Instagram captioned the post: “Couldn’t have said it better ourselves,” with a white love heart.

Although it is not known who is running Gemma’s account while she is away, islanders usually ask their close friends or family to post for them.

Gemma was originally coupled up with Liam Llewellyn, 22, on day one after the public decided who went with who.

However last night Davide Sanclimenti, 27, stole Gemma away from the student in a recoupling ceremony.

It comes after Gemma’s dad Michael broke his silence on her entry into the Love Island villa last night.

The retired footballer, who is now a TV pundit, joked he’d fled the country to get away from watching his 19-year-old daughter on the ITV dating show.

The striker, who was in Munich to cover England’s Nations League clash against Germany, said: “I came all the way to Germany to try and avoid all that back home, but it has been brought up straight away!

“But I am feeling alright. This is taking my mind off it so don’t bring it back up.”
