MAGPIES are often making themselves home in gardens – but that means they can often destroy plants.
Luckily, a gardening expert has revealed how to keep them out of your garden this summer.
Many people want to keep them out as they steal eggs from other birds, and can also leave your garden looking dishevelled.
You’ll often find trails of bird feed and foliage dotted around your garden once they’ve paid you a visit.
And unfortunately, if you have pets, they like to eat their droppings and can scatter them around the garden – so it’s always best to clean up after them immediately.
Magpies are difficult to deter from your garden, reports the Express.

They are also protected under the Wildlife and Countryside Act, 1981, which means there are limitations to the methods that can be used.
But, there are still some legal ways to get them out of your garden.
Magpies might like shiny objects but they hate reflective ones, so a simple way to keep them out is by hanging CDs or Half filled plastic bottles up.
The Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) recommended using them in trees to scare the predators away and stop them from nesting.
Magpies are a fiend for water, so make sure you remove any water features from your garden if you want them to stop inviting themselves in.
It’s also a good idea to make sure you are not overwatering your garden.
If you have a pond, try a pond protector to stop the birds from drinking the water there too.
But if you still want to attract some birds into your garden, try opting for a smaller one that magpies will find difficult to get food out of.
