A TOP racehorse owner and qualified solicitor has showed off some of his biggest winning punts over the years.
And he has used them to deliver a warning against the threat of ‘affordability checks’ which could drive a stake through the heart of online betting.
Carl Hinchy, a respected voice in the game who set up his own solicitors firm, posted a number of his giant payouts on Twitter.
One showed him netting a massive £66,000 after putting a total of £8,000 of Vintage Vinnie at Worcester in September 2016.
Hinchy backed the horse at 8-1 and 6-1 before the Rebecca Curtis-trained runner went onto win by 16 lengths at 6-4.
Another winning slip showed him with £45,400 in his betting account after winning £28,400 when putting £1,000 each way on 22-1 Ptit Zig at Auteuil in June 2016.
And a month before that massive win he pocked £17,162 from a £500 each way punt after 5-1 Ballinure and 9-2 Rocknrobin won at Uttoxeter and Fontwell respectively.
A more recent winner came in July 2018 when a £1,000 each way go on 20-1 Burnt Sugar at Ascot resulted in a £27,000 return.

Of course, like very punter, there have been a few losers too and Hinchy was lucky enough to have the funds behind him to play with such massive amounts.
But he was using his bets as examples of the type of gambles which could be consigned to history if new checks are brought in.
Hinchy, who said his punts once had him £300,000 up over an 18-month period, tweeted alongside his slips: “Some more archive bets from the good old 365 days, a nice mix of Flat, Auteuil over jumps and some each way summer jumping thievery.
“How times have changed. You could even bet online from Spain #affordabilitychecks #punting.”
A government review into betting and gaming is due to be completed soon, with affordability checks a key part of creating a safer betting environment.
Labour MP Carolyn Harris has proposed that anyone losing £100 or more a month online should be subject to an affordability check.
Already punters have complained about the extent of paperwork they need to send to bookmakers proving they can afford to bet.
It is believed payslips and bank statements have been requested by bookies, with many punters upset about the extent of personal information they need to hand over.
However, recent reports have also claimed the £100 figure is ‘too low’ and instead the threshold will be raised to the thousands.
Michael Dugher, CEO of the Betting and Gaming Council recently highlighted how betting provides racing with £350million a year in funding.
He said Betting and Gaming Council members generate £4.5billion in tax and contribute £7.7bn to the economy, while great strides have also been made in improving player safety.
