THE CHARACTER of Carly Corinthos has persevered on General Hospital for more than two decades – despite one calamity after another.
Multiple actresses have taken on the role – including Laura Wright, who has played Carly since 2005.
Carly Corinthos was first introduced on General Hospital in 1996.
Despite rumors that she might depart the soap opera, Laura Wright took to Twitter in February of 2022 to assure fans she is not going anywhere.
When asked if she was leaving General Hospital, Wright replied: “Nope. People love to start rumors.”
For years, fans of the show have watched Carly undergo a series of unfortunate events – the longtime character seemingly pulls through each time, however.

She was kidnapped when she was pregnant, she faked insanity to avoid prison, was presumed dead following a car accident, and was hit by a bullet meant for someone else.
“Every time she gets herself into a dangerous situation, fans fear the worst,” Soaps In Depth wrote in December 2021.
Sarah Joy Brown, Tamara Braun, Jennifer Bransford, and Laura Wright have all portrayed Carly over the years.
As Carly Corinthos is a character who often finds herself in trouble, fans have speculated on and off for years that she might see the end of her days on General Hospital.
In 2022, rumors began to recirculate about her potential departure when fans suggested the actress behind Carly, Laura Wright, does not get along with co-star Roger Howarth.
Once again, Wright took to Twitter to dispel any rumors.
She wrote, in a since-deleted tweet: “This is a horrible lie. I loved working with Roger! Carly and Todd were a favorite of mine!
The actress continued: “Stop spreading lies.”
General Hospital premieres on weekdays at 3pm ET.
The show is available to watch via ABC.
Streaming services that offer General Hospital include Hulu, YouTube TV, and fuboTV.
