AN 11-year-old girl has been arrested after a teenager was left with serious head injuries on board a bus.
The schoolgirl was arrested on suspicion of assault after a 15-year-old girl was rushed to hospital following the altercation in Ashton-under-Lyne on Sunday evening.
The 11-year-old girl has been released on bail, cops said.
Footage of the assault was shared widely on social media but has since been deleted, Manchester Evening News reports.
The teenage victim was later discharged from hospital – but her family said she is now terrified of leaving the house.
The girl’s auntie, Stacey Shepley, said: “It’s seriously affected her in a bad way, her body is in full shock and she is scared to go out of the house.

“As a family getting the phone call to get to her was horrible and I’ll never forget the look on her face and the hug of relief and the horror the family went through.
“We are so lucky to have her home and safe.
“I never want a phone call like that off my sister again. Lex’s mum said it’s any parents worse nightmare to watch their daughter suffer in so much pain.”
Officers were called to reports of an assault on a bus on Wellington Road in Ashton-under-Lyne shortly before 6.30pm on Sunday.
Greater Manchester Police said: “A 15-year-old female sustained a head injury and was taken to hospital and later discharged.
“An 11-year-old girl was arrested on suspicion of assault and bailed pending further enquiries.
“Enquiries are on-going and anyone with information can report it online at www.gmp.police.uk.”

A Stagecoach Manchester spokesperson said: “We are shocked by this incident and our first thoughts go out to the young girl affected.
