THEIR bickering on Britain’s Got Talent has become the stuff of legend.
But the tension between judges Simon Cowell and David Walliams is reaching a whole new level.
The comedian and children’s author has revealed he now sees it as his mission to drive fellow judge Simon mad — by ribbing him about his diva behaviour, which includes keeping crowds waiting while he has a nap.
David says the TV and music mogul often turns up late to recordings of BGT because, at the age of 62, he now needs an afternoon snooze.
He said: “One of of the most annoying people I have ever worked with in my life is Simon Cowell
“That is because this man has zero sense of timekeeping whatsoever.
“He often turns up to the Britain’s Got Talent auditions five hours late. Now he has a sleep in the middle of the day at the theatre.
“So we are meant to start filming the second session at 8pm and he will have a sleep.”
At An Audience With David Walliams and Rob Brydon event at the Criterion Theatre in London, he said Simon just didn’t understand how his lateness could upset audiences.
David said: “We are often two or three hours late. He’ll then be puzzled as to why the audience are leaving at 1.30am when we’re still filming.
“He is like, ‘Why are the audience going?’ and I say, ‘Because they don’t have a chauffeur-driven Rolls-Royce to take them home.’
“Every day, people come up and say, ‘I really like the way you ruin his life.’ So that is my task.”
It is a very worthy one too, David.
RUPAUL’s Drag Race star Cheryl Hole told how Adele arrived at her show this month, adding: “I’m putting my last three nails on, and then they say Adele’s at the back door.
“All of a sudden I just hear, ‘Hello babes!!’. And I went, ‘F***,f***, f***, f***. I could not believe it.”
IT’S not unusual for viewers to be left scratching their heads during Mastermind.
But they were presented with a different conundrum on Monday’s episode – when a contestant “went missing” minutes into the show.
After his introduction, host Clive Myrie turned to begin his questions and just three out of four chairs were filled.
One fan tweeted: “I’ve just tuned in. Can someone tell me why one of the chairs on #mastermind is empty?”
But Clive, who took over from John Humphry’s in August after 18 years as host, was not offering an answer.
He said: “You will have noticed that there are three contenders in the spotlight tonight, rather than the usual four.”
IN my view, the long- serving journalist and presenter Sir Trevor McDonald is deserving of every award going.
So I was pleased to hear he will be awarded with a Legacy Honour at the Visionary Awards next Tuesday, which recognise social impact through the arts.
